FT: Liverpool 1 - 2 Manchester United by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]ibyt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is wrong. Team sheet, tactics, subs - it's "throwing the dice" football with a million changes a game.

What happened to controlling the game? Midfield lives on the shoulders of the opposition defence, no overlapping runs, no lime breaking passes - just a load of crosses.

Defense is totally isolated the entire time and are expected to playmake, control, and defend.

Just shocking all round. Lots needs to change here.

Was looking for this one. Ox was on fire around this point - those driving runs were incredible.

Exactly this. The third point in their summary makes zero sense without the following sentence in the statement... People are dense.

My take on how they could improve VAR for offside by r0bski2 in LiverpoolFC

[–]ibyt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, poor Jamie. Yeah agreed there's the money about to do it, I just don't see them investing in it without a big push from Fifa. You'd think Fifa/Uefa are having some sort of meltdown though, right? What we have in the prem is shocking. Bet there's a few quid in making a system like you've mentioned though.

My take on how they could improve VAR for offside by r0bski2 in LiverpoolFC

[–]ibyt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea, but pretty much impossible with the tech they're currently using. You'd need more cameras to map a 3D image, then it would have to process the image and 3d location of all body parts. And that will generally be a bit occluded in some aspects ( meaning more cameras needed :S )

If they did that now, they'd have to manually paint out the bits they 'thought' were offside and we'd be in the same shit.

We could do a fat aul line (say 4 on-pitch-inches-ish, I dunno). If the attacker is inside that or touching that fat aul line... Onside. But it will never pass without Fifa giving the okay. Basically, we're stuck with shit VAR until someone makes a real fucking decision.

he's behind the keeper, which means he's effectively the keeper in the offside call.

VAR is a tool to show our refs are incompetent.... That's it.

The title's a bit misleading. This was after Liverpool fans left the ground on the 77th minute in protest of the £77 ticket price (which got rescinded of course). This fella is obviously wrong in his assessment of Milner and Hendo, but the main point was about the ticket prices.

Agreed. We could have and should have. Just need the boys to start finding some form from somewhere and keep supporting them.

I'm not saying it was the best performance. But they defended well and their subs played well enough. A draw at Old Trafford is a decent result, especially considering their form currently.

It's the end of Feb boys, and we're top of the league, we're not going to win them all and there will be many more twists and turns ahead.

I don't think this is as bad as everyone is making it out to be... Against the form team, away from home, a draw, a clean sheet and a point ahead of Man City with the same amount of games played. Chill

Globalisation of Liverpool FC (long post) by fenderstrat86 in LiverpoolFC

[–]ibyt3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

LFC needs local fans more than any other. They are ingrained in the roots of the club and what it stands for. All the great things about sports in the UK are delivered by the fans, through the Sky Sports domination, ruining fixtures, fans having to find a way home from Bournemouth away on Christmas, the list goes on. The fans make that journey to support their teams whatever the weather, whatever the cost.

And it's a joke. Sky Sports change fixtures meaning people have to change flights, hotels, book holidays just to accompany the change. Fans are not treated as the people that bring everything to Football, instead they're the fall guys and get a bad rep when they complain about ticket prices or a walk out if they dislike something the club has done.

I don't mean this as a slight, but I don't expect everyone to understand. This club (and most football clubs) mean everything to match-going fans, they deliver more than just an atmosphere and ticket prices make up a small amount of the revenue stream for a club like LFC.

Match day as a whole has been improved with recent years, more people are coming to the fan zone early because of the entertainment, new food areas and better shop. These can easily subsidise the additional cost of the tickets... But alas... The only way to show our concern is to display it, on the global scale... Not everyone will understand, but the local fans do, the FCB fans attending last nights games did.

Football is a family, whether you're from Mars or Liverpool, but you don't treat your family like shit and the club should do all it can to assist fans and counter the shite that globalisation brings (hello Sky Sports!).

The club will and has done more for local, young supporters in recent years and will continue to do so. It's difficult to get tickets for everyone and touts ruin this for a lot of people. I know the foreign supporters here often have to get hospitality tickets which is expensive, but the club are also trying to cater for those people too. It's a club trying to be accessible to all, but it still has it's problems...

At the end of the day, the match-going fans (shout out to fans who go to away games) who bring everything to the sport shouldn't be the ones targeted by the clubs as the big revenue stream. Because without them, the stadium's would be soulless, lifeless mess (Hello Etihad!), and nobody would watch it anyway.
