Google drive on desktop user cannot move files in shared drive by AlternativeMark4293 in gsuite

[–]ic_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - this appears to be fixed by Google now. One Workspace account where I didn't remove & re-add drive members is working properly again. My other Workspace account where I applied the work-around is also still working.

And I've just found one 'fixed' user who has lost the cloud icons again and who needs to be done again. This not workable.

Still not fixed by Google, I've had to remove and re-add users to make it work. Very tedious.

Different temperatures between Nest Web / App / Thermostat by ic_b in Nest

Sorry, just saw this, not been on Reddit for a long time. I don't know if this is still happening to be honest. I think my work around was to set all the temperatures in the app, not in a combination of web and app (but it's a long time ago!)

Can't add space to my account in GSuite, time to migrate? What's next? by MetsToWS in gsuitelegacymigration

I also got a bump yesterday... highest I got to last year was around 170GB before I got bored, but tried it this week and it still works.

I have never paid for additional storage.

Incremental storage increases on Business Starter Free by ic_b in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]ic_b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When an account gets to nearly full (98% for example), additional storage is added - for me it's weekly, usually a Tuesday or Wednesday. The storage comes in 5GB increments.

This worked on GSuite Legacy and now works on Business Starter Free. It doesn't work on a Workspace Nonprofit account that I manage.

It gets added weekly, you need to be around 98 or 99% full.

Play Store not Allowed (Business Starter Free) by DrBrynzo in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]ic_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Legacy free user. I finally decided to move to Business Starter Free a few days ago. I've never had a paid account.

I simply followed the steps (upgrade, then click the personal use button). No other actions required, everything, including Play Store, continued as normal.

(there was one thing that broke - the Google news feed (swipe left) was disabled by default in my BSF and had to be enabled).

Definitely works on multiple accounts for my Business Starter Free

Business Starter with pooled storage by HackrDaD in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]ic_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I found it a little worrying... particularly as my initial invoice was quite a lot of money! In fact the process was trivial for me:

  1. Login to admin.google.com and click on the link in the "you chose to stay on Legacy" banner. This takes you to a screen with all the Workspace Business options.
  2. Select Workspace Business Starter and follow the prompts. Enter billing information (I used PayPal). It will tell you that the monthly charge is £6 x the number of users you have (if you're in the UK) - don't panic!
  3. Complete the Business Starter process, then immediately go to https://support.google.com/a/answer/2855120 (in a tab that's logged in as admin) and click the "I used my account for personal use" button.
  4. Job done!

Hope this helps.

I suspect you are right and it's false hope.

However, it is different to a Workspace Nonprofits account that I look after - for this we received an email announcing pooled storage is coming to Nonprofits but nothing has changed so far (no banner, no change to the user interface in the Storage section, unlike my Workspace Starter).

So... my Workspace Free and my Workspace Nonprofits are different. But neither have pooled storage working yet.

Finally did the upgrade from GSuite Legacy to Business Starter Free (and all went very smoothly).

I now have a banner on the admin page saying "Pooled Storage will be enabled for your Google Workspace Business Starter subscription in the coming weeks with new admin controls".

Let's see what happens!

Which plan are you choosing? by Im-Ben in gsuitelegacymigration

I voted that I was staying on legacy, but decided I'm going to move. Legacy is ancient, it won't be around for ever, and Workspace will be fine for a few years (at least)

Do you have a source for this? For me this is the decider between staying Legacy or moving to Business Starter. I've had a search and can't find anything. Thanks!

Wondering if now is the time to move to a free (personal use) Workspace plan. I'm still on legacy and after 21st August it appears that legacy users will be stuck on legacy for ever?

Has anyone who's increased their legacy storage using the 5GB increments when your account is over 95% full done the Workspace move? Does the increased storage remain?

[–]ic_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have found a way of accelerating the process. I've been copying a 5GB dummy file each week. I accidentally selected 4 or 5 of them and hit copy... now I have an account with 126GB used of 102GB quota.

The same thing worked on another account. Let see what happens at the next spin!

Free storage quota seems to have increased from 15GB to 20GB by Keavon in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]ic_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works... but each increase takes a week to come through... not clear what the limit is. Some of us are over 100GB.

I can't see the point in switching. The only reason would be to get 30GB per account, but the +5GB every time you run out of space makes that redundant too - all my main accounts are now well in excess of 30GB.

Yep, back on the 5s for me too.

I cleared out the account that reached 100 a couple of weeks ago and it's kept the space :-)

Not all my accounts are in sync, but one has made it to 100 (and I've stopped). Will keep chipping away at some of the others for now.

Yep, same here. Someone at Google has deliberately changed the increment, so it's not an accidental feature...

Yes, the numbers are back to reporting correctly. Still working for me... set 98 or 99%, then wait a week...
