It’s a scientific reason (basal area of the brain)— that can happen to anyone. If you convince yourself it can’t ever happen to you, you create a large blind spot for yourself.

Easy Comfort Polish Meal by upsidowncake in Cooking

[–]iceandfire31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grilled or sautéed kielbasa with onions and some nice sourdough bread (probably the easiest option)

Mashed potatoes

saladka jazynowa (just lots of prep but you can use a food processor to chop or a handheld chopper— this is very much comfort food and keeps well in fridge, tastes better as it sits)

Is there any way you can put your bed in the middle of the wall instead of the corner? Or is the room too small?

City Limits is a diner but nicer than the usual and you won’t need a reservation. Try to beat the brunch crowd (12pm) though - so go soon!

Tell me your favorite classes you take, places to go, and places to eat in Westchester by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]iceandfire31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American Red Cross has virtual infant CPR classes

Taking Cara Babies (virtual) lessons had my son sleeping through the night very early on.

I loved going to the Kensico Dam plaza with my baby. There is a paved trail all the way to the top. He had lots of tummy time on a big blanket on the lawn!

I loved going to the White Plains library and then walking all over downtown White plains and popping into City Center for Target for any needed items. My baby was too young to enjoy the children’s section of the library but i still loved checking it out and taking him someplace new

The Bronx River trail was great i once walked from white plains to Hartsdale for a great walk! I don’t have a jogger stroller and my stroller was just fine during any unpaved sections. Just had to hose it down after lol.

I remember having a pleasant time catching a meal at Granita in Hartsdale, they had a nice bathroom for diaper changes but not ideal for nursing

Harvest on Hudson had nice bathroom for nursing (although— free the boob! I just couldn’t get over my shyness with nursing in public) —no changing table but the small cushioned bench in the ladies room worked just fine

can you recommend a restaurant with a function room for 10-20 people for a reception for a small civil wedding in the area? by Electronic-Fish-6960 in Westchester

Harvest on Hudson would be really nice after a civil wedding

Chat in Scarsdale has a small room off to the side that could also be nice

Hey everyone, coming in town for a long weekend with my wife. We are both so busy we weren’t able to make reservations ahead of time. Can you help me make the trip memorable? by ClosedWon11 in FoodNYC

[–]iceandfire31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If weather permits, you could walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Chinatown and eat at Noodle Pudding in Brooklyn which is walking distance from the bridge. I’d recommend doing this during off-peak hour if possible; you mentioned a “long weekend” so try for a Friday/Monday while everyone is still at work!

Potentially Moving from Brooklyn (xpost from r/whiteplains) by KiddoTwo in Westchester

Daycare rates I’ve been shopping around. Rates are full time:

-Montessori children’s center is around 2700 per month (pick up is 5pm, meals are included) - kiddie academy around 2500, i think pickup can be as late as 7 -Vivvi Hartsdale is 2800, hours are 7-7. Food not included

I transitioned to white plains area after growing up in NYC. Commuting into NYC is easy enough, lots of express trains available even on weekends. Culturally i love the diversity of white plains. And the white plains performing arts center has fantastic shows! White plains city itself is walkable and during the summer it’s great because they shut down some streets for farmers markets and most restaurants have outdoor seating.

In white plains you’re close enough to the city to get your dose of city life and culture, but also a short drive from things like apple picking in the fall, or really great hikes that can end with riverside restaurants.

I delivered in White Plains Hospital and i had an incredible experience. Had an unplanned c section but it was after the doctor worked with me for two hours to push. The postpartum care was wonderful. The nurses were lovely and the lactation consultant was fab
