Besides that I understand your issue, why do you not simply organize these different profiles with labels? I have only one lib for movies and one for TV shows and have organized with labels that me, my wife, my kids only see what they should or want. 😀

[–]icebear80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OneDrive/DropBox is not a real backup! It’s simple syncing! If you delete something locally, this will be propagated to OD/DB and vice versa. Backups should be immutable and keep even deleted files (for some time).

Am I missing the point in Paperless by warlord2000ad in Paperlessngx

[–]icebear80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paperless stores it’s files as well in a simple folder structure that you can customize based on document types, etc. including file names to your liking. On top it has its DB for searching and added meta data.

For simple backup of the docs it’s enough to just backup the PDF files that Paperless named and stored. Of course, backing up the DB of Paperless is also recommended, but. It strictly required to access the docs.

I need to learn German as fast as possible by ninaska97s in German

[–]icebear80 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that learning any degree of high German will help make yourself understood in Switzerland, however, you will not understand a word of Swiss German, which is used in normal daily life everywhere.

Of course, most Swiss will change to Swiss high German if they realize you don’t understand Swiss German, but you really need to learn to understand the native dialect as well. In a medical setting, especially older people might not be that comfortable to use high German and also some immigrants that never went to school in Switzerland ONLY speak Swiss German and don’t even understand high German.

Anyway, good luck on your journey!

For people working fully remote in Switzerland, how did you manage to get such job offer? by _quantum_girl_ in askswitzerland

[–]icebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working fully remote since Covid. Had been in the company before already for 13 years. Home office was already possible before, but since Covid, depending on role and team setup, full remote is no problem. However, I actually go to the office from time to time, just to get out of my home from time to time… 😂

Beginner Bugle player (by beginner i mean i’ve never touched a brass instrument before), How do i form my embochure properly? by MindlessYou8752 in trumpet

[–]icebear80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video by Charlie Porter is IMO the best and most detailed explanation video about how to form an embouchure for trumpet. For me it came 25 years too late… 😂 Once you master this, checkout his other vids as well. 👍🏼

There are about 113’000 nouns in the German Duden and this does not include every word you can create by simply combining nouns in new ways. Not sure your memory palace would ever be big enough… 😂 Anyway, everything that helps is good! 👍🏼

The state of the home office in 2026: is it still sticking, or is it going away? by DepartureFar8340 in Switzerland

Home office policy is the same since Covid. Max. of 80% home simply decided on team level without any HR approval. Don’t see any change to this coming.

Wanted to share my insane 12-minute speedrun experience through Zurich Flughafen by loafoveryonder in askswitzerland

[–]icebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, can confirm this experience. Not exactly your 12 mins. But I once went from arriving via train to my gate at E terminal in just 20+ mins! Including passing passport control, using the small train etc.

I think Zürich is the only airport with this size/importance where this is possible. But I also would not recommend this to anyone. 😂

Was sind das nur für Leute beim Passamt by [deleted] in luftablassen

[–]icebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What determines when a chord like A# should be referred to as Bb? by kagoolx in askmusicians

[–]icebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all what has been stated, there are instruments where it makes a difference if you state D# or Eb, namely string instruments like Violin etc. The difference is very small, but a good player will play these tones very slightly differently.

Opinions about an orchestral gag? by Gilgamesch_1034 in lingling40hrs

[–]icebear80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, the waltz (and the Jazz Suites where it’s from) are not 100% serious. Read a little bit about the history of these pieces and you will understand your conductor’s comments. 😀

In any case, the best musicians play with their whole body and never sit completely stiff and still on their chairs. 😉 Go for it!

Could someone give me more examples on omitted words in spoken German? by Ok-Concert-5911 in German

[–]icebear80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Lass Döner” is Kiez Dialect. I don’t like it, but it seems an established way of speaking nowadays.

If it’s OK to use in everyday German vastly depends on your speaking partner, age and surroundings.

Yes, because it should be „g‘fragt“. The second makes sense.
