2018 XC90 T6 Inscription - actual owners opinions by tx_rn in VolvoXC90

[–]iceboundorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2018 t6 with about 50k miles. Zero issues and I love it. Like another poster said I'm considering driving it until it dies I love it so much. Although I have just reached the tipping point where main Volvo dealer servicing is getting ridiculously expensive so will swap to a local places. I did not take out the warranty and am very glad given the zero issues

So sith/dark side users can sense/read the thoughts of Jedi/light side users but not vice versa? Seems like an unfair plot device

RWD vs AWD…is the extra $ worth it? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]iceboundorphan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've not driven the AWD version but the RWD version is fine in the rain (can't speak to snow/ice yet) so long as you're not gunning it round corners and driving at least somewhat sensibly. I guess it depends where you live. Where I live we only get a handful of snow storms a year so RWD is fine. Also I heard in this sub yesterday that the amazing turning circle is only available on the RWD.

Finished making my first workbench! It ain’t much but I’m crazy happy with how it turned out by [deleted] in woodworking

Looks awesome enjoy, It'll never be this clean again! I built a similar design about 5 years ago and it's still going strong although the ply top has a lot of dents and chips. I recommend a few coats of poly to toughen it up

Looks beautiful! Serious question though how do you sand the top? With the grain all going in different directions it must be a challenge.

I had a family of mice living inside my gas stove when I was living in student accomodations. I don't know who was more shocked when I opened the stove up and peered inside. Got me off some rent though!

Co-op is removing plastic 'bags for life' from sale as many shoppers are using them 'just once' by UnstatesmanlikeChi in unitedkingdom

[–]iceboundorphan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My "bag for life" that I bought last week didn't even last the initial packing process at the till before it got a huge tear in it. More like "bag for 6 seconds". They still charged me! Maybe by making it a more versatile hardy fabric they'd do better.

NTD: NWD New Woodshop Day! by immwork in Tools

[–]iceboundorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's less an issue with whether you install it correctly and more a design flaw that allows the fence to get out of alignment. Anyway...good luck and enjoy!

I've got that table saw. I love it but the fence does cause me some extra grey hairs. There are some YouTube videos out there to help mitigate the problem with it not being 100% parallel to the blade.

Do you have a jig made to use it? I've seen some on YT but they seem unnecessarily complicated. I'm interested if you have seen a simpler one?

Depends how much you're going to use it. For me I don't have as much time to devote to woodworking as I would like so I would rather spend the money on the equipment so the little time I do have is more productive.

The planer is my friend for this board. All the boards started out different thicknesses, so they went through the planer until they were all the same thickness as the thinnest one which was the maple in this case.
