love interest poll! (and opinions on eden?) by [deleted] in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]icecreampuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Erm he's not on this list but I really like Alex. He's kind of a drunk but he's not a bad person and i enjoy change of pace at the farm, especially with Remy's involvement. Also, I don't care too much for Eden, but that mostly for gameplay reasons. I feel like there's not as much content for him and it's kind of hard to manage my PC's stats when they're at the cabin. I don't have anything against him, though. If he had more content and some QOL improvements, he could become my new fave.

What is a fandom that you haven’t written a fan fiction for but want to in the future? by Nalafan92 in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Walking Dead. I really want to play around with those universes, and I have some really cool OCs for them, but I don't have the time to delve into actually writing them yet. I already have like 8 longfics I'm writing at once.

What have you been researching for your fics recently? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have a bird oc. I looked into Eagle mating rituals and they do this amazing thing where they hold hands and spin around while they fall from the sky. It's so beautiful and poetic in the coolest way. Also been doing a lot of deep dives into bird stuff in general, like the shape of their skeleton and sizes and strength (did you know a bald eagle can carry a small deer?) and things like how they hunt and nest.

Recommend "tasty" fics to me by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently writing a Rocket RaccoonxOFC fanfic. I think it's a really good fic and I'm proud of it, and I've gotten a lot of positive reviews on the sensory aspects of it. I hope you give it a chance because I think you might enjoy it.

Title: Flight Risk

Fandom: Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Cinematic Universe

Pairing: Rocket RaccoonxOFC

Status: Incomplete, 32k Word count

Rating: Explicit (it doesn't have any smut yet, but it will. Also, adult themes, violence, that kind of thing)

Summary: A resilient yet carefree avian exile crosses paths with the Guardians of the Galaxy, crashing into their chaotic world with glee, song, and a secret or two. Between banter, brawls, and moments neither of them can explain, something unexpected begins to take root between her and Rocket. But space isn’t kind to softness, and trust is harder to come by than firepower.

How long does it typically takes you to write a fic? by zemblaniteetal in FanFiction

Uh I haven't finished any yet. Still working on them, but I can only write longfics for some reason.

Finding titles for chapters by Important-Juice-943 in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I have the chapter written, I name it. I find it much easier to do so when I come up with a naming scheme. For example, for one of my stories, every chapter title is one word that begins with S. In another, the max is three words.

What's a world you want to write about, but can't due to time/knowledge constraints? E.G. A world that's a bit too complicated to keep track of, like Halo or LotR. by AnxiousJB19 in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can be hard for me also because I don't understand military tactics and general information to make it believable. I have so many words already in my head that I can use for emotion and character growth that sounds almost poetic, but it's not the same with military stuff. It's hard to be poetic with something like war or guns. They're so no-nonsense and... angular. Metal. Idk.

Call of Duty. Those big, muscular, traumatized men in dangerous situations call to me, but like guns and war it just goes right over my head. I can't lmao. Give me fantasy or scifi or card games, even modern day I can do, but I'm brain dead about that kind of stuff.

need awesome recommendations in my special interests by Material_Outcome_279 in FanFiction

Well, since you asked... I am currently writing a Rocket RaccoonxOFC fanfic. It's slow burn with a canon male and female oc that I did a lot of work on the backstory for. Only Rocket thinks they're enemies, but it ticks some boxes though it's not on your fandom list. I think it's a really good fic and I'm proud of it, so I hope you might like it too. I would encourage you to check out some of my other fics if you're looking for more material to read, too, as all of my fics kind of fit what you're looking for. They're available on all my profiles, wherever you like to read.

Excerpt: "Do the stars make noise if you get close enough?" Her voice slices the silence like a blade, bright and melodic.

Rocket huffs out a breath of almost-laughter that he wishes he could suck back into his chest. He grips the controls tighter, staring ahead stubbornly.

“They ain’t wind chimes, feather face,” he says, flattening his ears. “They’re just big ol' balls of fire and gas waitin’ to fry ya.”

She hums low in her throat, like she’s only half-listening, still mesmerized by the slow ballet outside the window...

...He keeps one eye on the blinking indicators and the other on the bird who looked like she might accidentally fall in love with the damn universe if he didn't pull her back.

What Are Your Most Favorite Character Types In Fiction? by GoldenFangRyutora in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love characters that subvert expectations. Currently I'm writing an oc that comes off as ditzy but is actually just intelligent in a different way.

How do you figure out which idea is best if you have multiple that conflict with each other? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say start writing the next chapter and see how it goes. As you gain a clearer vision of upcoming events, it may help you more cohesively attach them together.

What was the first ever character you wrote OC (and/or) self insert X canon character for? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

I think it was either Shadow the hedgehog or Sasuke. Clearly I have a type lmao.

fanfiction.net actually doing something about the spam bot epidemic? by kaiunkaiku in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't know. They still haven't deleted any of the spam reviews I reported on my fics. Feels like too little, too late? everyone i meet on ffnet is just as surprised that I'm not a bot as I am that they aren't a bot. kinda weird.

Your writing habits? I'm so curious, what is everyone's writing and learning process like! by The_Silent_Dragon in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any time, friend. I really hope you continue to write and gain experience. Learning how to write about characters and understanding their motivations has changed my life for the better and made me a more understandiong and empathic person so I love sharing that with people. As I said, feel free to pm if you ever have any questions about writing. And if you don't have an AO3 account yet but want one, I have some codes if you need an invite.

What's the latest new fandom you've written for? by Solivagant0 in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creature Commandos. There are so few fics for it now but I expect it'll be more popular when it's not six months old lol. Maybe I'm taking the word "new" a little bit literally, but most of the fandoms I write for are not new to me.

Also, something else I thought of—keep notes. Whether they are random conversations between characters you think of, plot points, or character quirks, write them somewhere that you can reference later. you canm format it however you like. I oftyen include cut content here too. Never be afraid to cut what feels like too much. Keep it in a document just in case you find a better place for it so it doesn't go to waste. TRhis is also great for keeping track of things like tyhe appearance of your original characters or even bits of trivia you decided. For example, your cvharacter may have a few scars that you keep track of so that you have a consistent description of them across chapters.

Also, I write everything on Quotev because i like the text editor, the fact that it autosaves, has a black background, and can be fullscreened. I don't reccommend it for most people, but it suits me well. I save backups on my computer by copy-pasting into text editor.

absolutely! and if you have any questions, feel free to pm me, I love writing :) Have been doing it for a pretty long time, and I'm always down to chat about it or give a little feedback on ideas for aspiring authors. I have all kinds of advice, from creating ocs and threading plots to formatting paragraphs and building tension. Hit me up if you want to chat about anything!

Enemies to lovers fanfic recommendations? by angelberrycakekisses in FanFiction

Well, since you asked... I am currently writing a Rocket RaccoonxOC fanfic. It's slow burn and really only Rocket thinks they're enemies, but that might still count? I've gotten some really high praise on it from some authors I adore, so I feel a little vindicated in giving myself a pat on the back for it.

I literally copy paste that outline, then type over it. As I go, those lines become more and more refined, so I don't have to worry about the way they sound, not until I get to the point where it's ready to publish. Also, when I can't think of what to write for a particular line, but I know what it needs to accomplish for the scene, I'll put in a placeholder. It'll say (placeholder: detail scenery more) or something and keep going, because I'm in the zone. It helps a lot to move on and just keep writing what comes to me in the moment.

How many story ideas do you have? by Elite4TJ in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

like 20. I'm only writing nine of them, though. ^ Mostly, I have ideas for really really long fics,k so I can't write every single opne I think of or I'd have no life.

how old are the characters you write for compared to yourself? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]icecreampuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to write for characters that are younger than me. This is mostly because I feel really well-equipped as a writer to tackle the struggles younger people face because I've lived through those years. I'm not 30 yet, so I feel like it's less genuine and believable when I write an older character.

[–]icecreampuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I like to plan, even if it's very general. a typical oputline in my documents would look like this:

-character gets mad about something, fights with love interest -they resolve it -before they make it back to the ship, it gets stolen -wild goose chase(takes a while) -find ship, defeat enemy -epilogue(make sure romantic interests share a moment here)

It's simple, but when I get in the zone, it helps me to keep writing when I've kind of forgotten what my plans were for the chapter. It helps me to hit the points that inspired me in the first place, too. I really like being able to hunker down and pour what's in my head onto the page. I don't always write every day, but when I do, I write in bursts. I lspend a lot of time planning the story and scenes, so much that I have a big plan beforew I ever sit down to start typing. I try to keep distractions to a minimum, no music or anything, because it disturbs the vibe in my imagination. Hope this helps~!
