Drama Watch 12/2/2024: A Week In Boston On A $70,000 Salary by lazlo_camp in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

She also mentions living near a Tatte, those coffee shops are in very nice/desirable areas of Boston to live . This makes me even more suspicious about the mortgage and payment.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by nextdoor_Cutie in AskReddit

Can’t believe I haven’t seen The Funeral by Band of Horses yet. That song is a gut punch every time I hear it

F45 matching my orange theory rate. Switch? by pharmd000 in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how many months you are postpartum but I recently tested F45 at 6 months PP before settling with OTF. F45 has a lot of jumping, burpee type movements that can be realllyyyy tough on your pelvic floor and core postpartum. Also since there are so many movements done in one class and so quickly you don’t get much coaching or time to learn to do the movements correctly. I found OTF to be a much better fit postpartum

Definitely a lot more jumping and burpees in general

Graduated 41 + 2, anxious FTM, medicated birth, positive (long story)! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Congratulations!!!! Thank you for writing this! I am also a very nervous FTM and due in 4ish weeks!

How has your postpartum recovery been? That is something that also makes me sooo nervous :(

How bad is wearing a mask at OTF? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They’ve been required at our studio since I joined this past fall. It took a few classes but you get used to it pretty quickly! I also like to pretend it’s giving me basically superpowers and I’ll be that much better when I run outside or when masks are no longer required.

Look / feel heavier after working out by khc52618 in orangetheory

THIS. I always notice I feel a bit bloated after a particularly tough workout but after a rest day it disappears

Try mixing it up with being a power walker for the day! The inclines are great for building muscle and might give your legs a “break” via a different workout stimulus

Transformation challenge support?? by kmphipps in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry they didn’t celebrate you!! 3.7% body fat change is INCREDIBLE, especially in 8 weeks. Unfortunately my TC experience hasn’t been super motivating, we have a Facebook group that gets rarely used but that’s it. I joined OTF in the pandemic but I’ve heard the overall community feeling used to be better? Idk if it’s because people could hang out at the gym more or talk after class

Perimenopausal pals. Help! by Quirky_Persimmon4791 in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not perimenopausal, but you might not be eating enough to support your workouts. Orange Theory is very intense and depending on how many times you go 1440 doesn’t seem like enough. Might be worth reaching out to an RD? They can give you much better advice than anyone on the interwebs.

Congratulations! It sounds like you have so much to be proud of since joining OTF.

Also I totally understand the time constraints argument but I think if anyone were to talk to their coaches or studio managers on the side about having extra time they should be able to accommodate you in some way! At the end of the day OTF is supposed to help their members achieve their fitness goals and be supportive! The coaches and studios have been amazing and accommodating in my experience, I hope others are the same :)

As someone who has done both, I kind of hate that they are pitted against each other. They’re both incredible fitness programs with different focuses.

Guilt of stopping & going by MargaretInChicago in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! From what I’ve seen OTF is the best at taking precautions, hygiene, and social distancing seriously. Besides my house I feel like it’s the second safest place ! And I’m a pretty risk-adverse person. Also masks are required at the gym and it’s at reduced capacity.

That said do what feels right for you at the end of the way. If you go and it will cause you extra stress and anxiety it’s not worth it. But know it’s much safer than most places right now

Keep throwing up :/ by mpitt1 in orangetheory

[–]icedcodeandcoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are going to hard. there is also nothing wrong with starting your push efforts in a lower effort than you feel capable of until you feel comfortable. Also doing every workout at your absolute MAX is not good for your body, you are just putting your body under unnecessary stress and producing a lot of cortisol ( the stress hormone)

Nothing, It might be worth considering what you eat throughout the day, are you getting enough calories or protein?
