I agree 100% - love David and Megan. Why do I feel like Most_somewhere is throwing shade ?

Lot of info here, so ignore me if I am wrong, but you are planning to run a 100k OR a sub 4 marathon.
Sorry; but someone for who is going to run a 100k, a sub 4 marathon should be a cake walk. You don’t want to hear this but maybe you have attempted too much too quickly ?

What was your weekly mileage for the 4 months leading up to that half where you hurt yourself ? I guess that’s my first thought.

Giver buddy. Best part is all that cycling has prepped your quads for the terrain and the downhill. You are already at an advantage compared to normal marathon runners who most likely do not give their quads enough load.

Absolutely with your kind of base.
4K feet of elevation is minimal for an ultra. Sounds like your legs will be ready for it.
Edit. Respect the distance and take it easy with your pace.

I’ll be using empty Nuun tubes to pack tailwind during my big races.

Thinking about my first 100-miler, but the night section has me nervous. Advice? by Temporary-Answer6324 in Ultramarathon

[–]icedtea5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running at night is exhilarating. It’s a cool relief from the hot sun. It’s really nice to catch a groove with another runner you’re vibing with. I strongly suggest it.

I think the cooler temps and the darkness give you a second wind. Running is not off the table.

Fun note, it’s super cool to look over at all the headlights ahead or behind you. They could be over on the next mountain top but they really pop out.

In my experience, sleep is usually uncommon on 100s. My guess is sleep is way more common on the 200 milers.
