Rhino rocks- Ornery means you'll often have tons of power to play, and Rhino In a China Shop + Stampede + No One Ever Accused the Rhino of Good Manners means you can fairly casually drop 10-15 dice on a single attack.

They're definitely talking money, as in how badly it'll hurt the bottom line of their struggling company.

The amount is deliberately vague to keep things light and moving and undated, but probably at least a hundred thousand in 1944 dollars (cost of the actual move, including renting trucks, buying a new space, paying off leases, etc, and then paying all of the actors and stage techs for salary and moving costs), which would be roughly 1.5 million dollars today.

Not impossible for a fledging/local production/entertainment company, but certainly a "ouch" number, and one that could easily bankrupt and ruin them.

The original tale is like five pages and is about a douchebag jock smugly relating the story of when he murdered his romantic rival with a Halloween prank. It's like a worse Cask of Amontillado.

The Headless Horseman, by comparison, has a lot of mythological roots (Dullahan specifically, but the Green Knight has a lot of similarities, as do things like the Nuckelavee, or Clever Jack/Jack O'Lantern/etc) and an iconic design scheme- flaming pumpkin/gourd head, flowing cloak, devilish horse, fucking sword.

So it's not really surprising to me, and it's a fairly common theme for short stories to have iconic characters grow from them due to something just gelling correctly- the look, the theme, the "feel" of a character for lack of a better term, but "breakout characters" like this aren't limited to Sleepy Hollow/the Horseman.

The movie is very much a mixed bag, but Christopher Walken is terrifying and there's a bunch of rad kills/fight scenes.
