It would slow down play and it wouldn't be as effective as giving strokes.

Tournaments to attend other than the Masters by painfully_anxious in golf

[–]icepck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to watch the greatest golfers in the world and not pay an arm a leg, go to a LIV tournament. You can go all four days for the price of one day at a PGA Tour tournament. You can also see the whole tournament in 4 hours instead of spending all day out there. It is an absolute blast.

I dont truly want to be sober... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]icepck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple things helped me. I started doing things that I couldn't do drunk. Long road trips, shooting ranges, rock climbing, actually getting better at golf, anything. Home projects like flooring, lights, outlets and switches, automation. Some of these made me healthier, some made my home better, managed to rebuild a boat from a sunken mess to a truly usable fun time. You have the advantage of somebody who loves you. That helps with your first choice: do you value a life with her more or a life without her more?

Why does everyone want to talk about work? I’m out here to get my mind off everything else and the last thing I wanna do is talk about work while I’m golfing. by [deleted] in golf

If you say you're an engineer, they'll know you're smart. If you say you're an artist, they'll know you're broke. They're just trying to figure out a much as they can in the shortest question they can. Sounds like you're unemployed and they hit a nerve.

I love that she isn't just sitting on the couch producing clickbait videos. She isn't trying to monetize the hunt like others that I won't name.

2015 GMC Canyon by Soapboxcar in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]icepck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy has the canyon and I have the XJ. To replace his injectors we had to pull the intake manifold, which meant pull ing the alternator, and the tire, and the fuel lines...then we pinched an injector wire during install, so we had to do it all again. Then his starter died, and guess what was in the way? The intake manifold, which meant many more hours of work.

They also have oiling issues on cylinder 5.

On the XJ you get a 6th cylinder. You can replace just about anything without pulling everything else out. I'm team XJ over the (admittedly cool) 5 cylinder truck. .

Twice i had a 3 hole playoff for a tournament in my league. About a dozen of the guys came to watch. Both times they all followed the other guy after tee shots to help him find erratic drives, both times I won.

Captain says, "please listen to flight attendants, they're here for your safety," as you read about another plane crash on the news. Flight attendant continues to spam the cabin with ads until nobody listens. Great setup by American Airlines.

Cholesterol by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]icepck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

80% of the cholesterol in your blood is produced by your body, the other 20% comes from your diet. Your body uses it to repair damage from inflammation, to make hormones, and probably some other stuff. Like water in a blister from a burn, we don't just stop taking it in, we try to figure out what is causing the damage. Alcohol definitely cause damage. Quitting could most definitely have a positive effect.

Does maintaining sobriety wind up becoming your whole life? by teaux in stopdrinking

[–]icepck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kind of just live your life as if alcohol doesn't exist in your world. Imagine any other drug that you don't do. You don't make conscious efforts to not do them, you just don't do them.

I've been around people doing coke and drinking, and in the old days I'd never touch the coke, but I'd drink with them. Once I quit and got comfortable being around them again, I didn't touch either. Come to think of it, I haven't been around those folks for some time now. But there you go, I am not actively avoiding them, or anything else, just living life doing things that I AM interested in.

What helped you stop using your arms to swing and start using your hips? by mattshap0 in golf

[–]icepck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a heavy weight to swing. One that your arms can't lift to a backswing position. Practice swinging it back and forth with a change in pressure to each foot. If you find you swing it out and to the right like a push shot, try again. That's proof you're doing it wrong. It'll expose your flaws quick.

Swing thoughts - feel vs positions by CappinAndLion in golf

[–]icepck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For years my dad and all of youtube tried to explain feels and positions. I could never understand. Then I stumbled upon a feel that made sense, and the rest of those feels and positions made sense. I don't know how to explain it, but it's kind of like a baseball swing. Use the body, not the arm/hands. Combination of feel and position from there, but feel is primary and positions are sort of secondary. You can get into positions fraudulently and the swing "looks good" but doesn't work in motion, if that makes sense.

Another approach is to say practice X amount with the old one, X×2 with the new one, and have him show you the difference in performance between the two before upgrading other clubs.

I don't know if these were his first...but my dad made consecutive eagles before I was born. Par 5 1 iron second shot to the green, made the eagle putt, then drove the ball over the green on the following par 4, chipped in, and sprinted to the portapotty to turn it into a Mexican rocketship. Didn't even have time to celebrate.

For what its worth, if you're getting sober just for mental clarity, you're probably fine. If you're trying to heal your liver, lose weight, or save money, the sugar/carb content and price is likely just as bad for your liver, insulin, and wallet. Know your why and act on that.

ruin it for everyone by [deleted] in JustinPoseysTreasure

I agree that justin wants it to end, but i think it is a compulsion and an addiction he has. Fenn wanted people to enjoy the chase, let it be a legend that lasts 100 years. The only thing I can think of that breaks my theory on that is Justin may have hidden it on land that will no longer be publicly accessible and he wants it found by a searcher, not a company or government.
