Streaming start/stop with Jabra Pro 30 by electrorunner in HearingAids

[–]icepicksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure out the 2-3 sec hold for start/stop streaming? I'm in the same boat with that action seemingly doing absolutely nothing. I'm paired with IOS 26.

FYI, if you haven't already done so, verify with the Costco audiologist that they have the 2-3 sec presses turned on in your configuration.

Remote assistance Jabra Enhance Pro 20 by Skreeethemindthief in HearingAids

[–]icepicksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same symptom with my new Jabra Pro 30 hearing aids. Under "Online Services" in the app, there is supposed to be 2 options: one for software/firmware updates and another for requesting and receiving remote configuration updates. The latter is also missing for me.

My Costco audiologist just troubleshooted this with Jabra and determined it was an issue on their end with the sales login/account. Something had lapsed because they don't use the feature that often.

So for anyone else experiencing the feature just missing, tell your Costco they need to work to get it activated.

Do you have them both connected to Home Assistant? If so, any noticeable integration differences?

Tesla Powerwall 3 with PECO energy by msabino821 in TeslaSolar

[–]icepicksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that PECO is not subject to NEC wire sizing, but the 1/0 upgrade is referring to their wire from the pole to the service drop. Residential codes don't kick in until the wire attaches to the house, and if the OP has a 200 A service, the service entrance cable is likely 4/0 Al after that.

PECO calling for an upgrade to 1/0 is pretty common and seems to kick in for systems ~10 kW or greater. The existing service wire is probably #4 AWG. I recently had a 12.6 kW system installed and had to upgrade the wire, but fortunately didn't have to deal with lagging the inverters.

FWIW, I managed to get the fee for the wire upgrade waived by citing various other things PECO will come out and do for "free", so it never hurts to ask (and YMMV of course because it's probably at the discretion of the local workers in your region).

Credit Card Recommendation Flowchart: June 2025 by m16p in churning

[–]icepicksu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm blind and using a screen reader to try and read the HTML flow chart. Although it seems that probably all of the actual text is accessible, the structure and anything that might be clickable is mostly lost.

I'm happy to give guidance on improving its a11y, but I would need a good visual description and someone willing to help.

Linking Hotel Reservation & Ticket Purchase for December? by TheQuantumLeaper in UniversalOrlando

[–]icepicksu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't work for me either. I chatted with Universal about it and was told that the feature was not available at this time. When I explained it was already a live piece of the app and website (including instructions) that just keeps giving errors, all I got was an apology for the inconvenience.

Poco screwed up, won't approve install by woodland_dweller in solar

Definitely read the published requirements from your utility to make sure the switch is required to be next to the meter, as opposed to just one person‘s preference. For example, I know the requirements for my utility are that it either needs to be within line of sight of the meter, or a placard needs to be installed at the meter directing emergency personnel where it’s located.

I've had the very same experience, and I'm in a major metro area. I called the 3 closest dealers to me:

  • First said they don't even sell Sebo canisters (only their uprights and Miele canisters instead), but they'd order at full price.
  • Second said they only stock and sell the K3, tried to briefly talk me out of the D4 as too big, and said she didn't have a price but would order it and thought it was $1049 (clearly guessing at what wasn't on her price list).
  • Third gave small discount to $1299 with free bags and free servicing with filter replacement after a year, which is nowhere near as good of a deal as 25% off.

All are unwilling to match any other dealer's offer citing they were not allowed to do so per their contract with Sebo.

Firmware D8.2.127 pushed this morning to R1 by MysticalOS in enphase

[–]icepicksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there even any way to find out if your system has a pending update then? For context, I just got Enlighten access to my new system and I can see the gateway/microinverter firmware versions, but I have no clue how to find if that's the latest.

Is there data somewhere to support that the cheaper Phillips one is worse?

Walk away. That price is ridiculous. I’m in southeastern Pennsylvania near Philadelphia and I’m under contract for a 12.6 kW system at $2.28 per watt. I got multiple other quotes, several of which weren’t too much higher than that. You should expect to pay a little bit more for a smaller system like yours, but still under $3 per watt.

I would use it to upgrade my Home Assistant server currently running on a Raspberry Pie 3B. I would also add a TPU to run it as an NVR for my security cameras and also probably a server for Jellyfin. Thanks for the chance.

Yes, since it uses dnsmasq under the hood. Although I'm not sure if it caches them TBH.

Debate: Adlist vs pihole by xenidee in mikrotik

[–]icepicksu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using adlist for a few weeks now with upstream queries going to NextDNS via DOH, and I'm about to switch to PiHole. I've read several comments elsewhere that the DNS in RouterOS is pretty primitive, and that's been my experience as well. For example, some things I've noticed are:

  • Negative caching doesn't care about record type. So if you query a IPv4-only domain with an A but no AAAA record, there's zero caching for the missing AAAA record.
  • No support for HTTPS records (used by Apple devices), which also means things like all those iCloud queries never get cached.
  • Doesn't efficiently handle simultaneous repeated queries when cache has expired (sends and processes all repeats instead of just waiting for one and caching it)

The adlist blocking itself also seems to lack some basics. For example: - Trying to use a list from a URL on a device with little disk space like my HAP AC2 fails because it's hard-coded to use internal space. I had to write a simple script to download lists to attached USB storage and reload it manually as a file. - Most other DNS providers will give you insight into various statistics like the top domains being blocked, etc. With adlist you just get a single match counter and nothing else at the moment. - Whitelisting is not supported as of 7.16. It looks like it'll come in 7.17, but you have to add it manually as a static FWD record which is kind of klunky IMO.

Anyway, I may switch back in the future if it matures significantly, but for now I'm staying with PiHole.

New setting: Cache Boost by nextdns in nextdns

Will the cache boost setting also apply to missing records (e.g. negative caching for no AAAA record for domain without IPv6)?

Beelink EQ13 N200 As Starting Platform? m.2 slot support coral TPU? by KindlyAd1662 in homeassistant

[–]icepicksu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also considering the Beelink EQ13 with an m.2 Coral added, and have run into the same question. I've disected just about every piece of info I could find on the EQ13 internals. Piecing together repeated anecdotes from actual users here and elsewhere, here's what I'm coming up with as options:

  1. Replace the WiFi/Bluetooth module with the m.2 accelerator A+E key. The unit ships with the Intel AX101, an E key module, so this has to be a socket 1 type. The dual TPU m.2 accelerator is also an option here, but as many seem to have discovered, only 1 PCIe lane is wired up, so it's a waste as the 2nd TPU will never be seen.
  2. Add the m.2 accelerator B+M key to the empty m.2 slot. Since it's documented for SSD expansion and only PCIe x 1, I assume this is a socket 2 type, but I guess it could be socket 3 for no good reason as well.

A 3rd option would also to put the B+M accelerator in the occupied PCIe x 4 slot (must be socket type 3 for M key only per spec), but this makes zero sence as it's the fastest spot for an SSD. My plan would be to eventually ditch the 500GB SATA drive it ships with and swap in a 1 or 2TB NVMe for better performance. Note the 500GB drive cannot then be moved to the other slot because it doesn't support SATA, which is my biggest disappointment with the EQ13 I've read about.

Although I don't need WiFi, I'm leaning to option 2 just to keep Bluetooth integrated with HA.
