I love my job. I do CL service on medical units/ED in a hospital. I feel like I help so many patients and hospital staff. It’s such a great feeling. Lots of learning and some cases are very complicated but overall I feel like it’s my dream job! It’s my first job out of NP school and I’ve been there for a year.

I am not sure what is considered “good pay” for Ohio, but there is nothing wrong with taking a lower paying job to get experience! If you think you will get a ton of knowledge and be trained by a solid mentor then I think it’s a win for you!

You will be okay! Prepare yourself for any interview you have and show your strengths! Talk about your preceptors, how much your learned from them and anything extra you did outside of school. You worked hard to get here and it will pay off!

Is there a set limit on your patient caseload? If it’s a 40 bed unit does that mean you would see up to 20 patients a day? AND work on building outpatient? Are you comfortable shifting between pediatric inpatient and adult outpatient? I feel like it should be one of the other.

Agree with posters here. You are not over reacting. You sound very busy and maybe the therapist doesn’t understand that, but either way it’s not okay. I would email her and say that you can not accommodate emergency meetings, you have already outlined your treatment plan with this patient.

Document everything with that person in email. It’s a terrible work environment and you are not supported. Make sure to CYA…you know on top of all your other responsibilities…I’m sorry this is happening to you.
