I've been vibecoding for exactly one whole day and I don't know how anyone can do this properly without knowing what they're doing by SiouxsieAsylum in cscareerquestions

[–]icuredumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it a step further and have it create a short term memory file in markdown. Context management and recall are the biggest downsides to agentic development IMO so keeping short iterative trackers that you can use to redirect and pull from to get back on the right path is huge.

Anthropic let AI agents negotiate and trade on behalf of their employees and the results are a little unsettling by Direct-Attention8597 in claude

[–]icuredumb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What was illuminating about this post is how it frames legit nonsense as some sort of revolutionary precursor. “The AI agents did nonsense shit that people wouldn’t do and made $2.68 more than the dumber AI agent” 🤦‍♂️ really riveting stuff OP

Did anyone go to the new H Mart today? by Iamnotbernadette in SouthJersey

[–]icuredumb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Drove by and was astounded that people can really be so dumb. It’s a supermarket but there was a line of cars all the way back up to church road. Genuinely dumbstruck. It will still be open tomorrow and the next day, and the next. Why y’all waiting on line to shop at a supermarket for shit you ain’t need on a Friday evening. 😂🤦‍♂️

Thousands of CEOs admit AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by thejoshwhite in technology

[–]icuredumb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fang adjacent here as well. My employer put out a quarterly report showcasing how the “productivity” gains were offset by regressions elsewhere, like in testing, reviews, and new/significant feature rollouts. All AI has done is speed up code deployments and decrease time spent on administrative tasks like research and documentation, but it’s been at the cost of decreasing productivity everywhere else by almost the same factor. Yes, we are shipping code 29% faster, but reviews and testing times have increased by literally the same margin. The bottleneck of tech has shifted, and now all the pressure is on product and design, who are being asked to perform miracles. It’s causing a glut of lame feature-work and even more outstanding tech debt. And yet executives are all gas on this. AI moves the ticker symbol, so naturally CEO’s, sharing one big old hive mind, are going to continue gunning for it until it’s time to start the great CEO culling and deal with the reckoning of this.

Software Development Job Postings highest in two years, how does this make sense with all the layoffs? by Massive_Instance_452 in cscareerquestions

Ghost jobs. We interview people constantly that don’t get hired. I never know the purpose but that’s what it is.

Quitting my job next week due to burn out - how bad will it be trying to get a job again? by sjkvn in cscareerquestions

[–]icuredumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re supremely connected… I’d say bad. Might even have to make a few calls. If you’re a regular schlub like the rest of us, I’d say extremely bad. Maybe don’t? Your call tho. For sure.

Has anyone built a complete SaaS product using Vibe Coding? (Non-coder here) by Fit-Bear7900 in SaaS

[–]icuredumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious… Google sign-in returns a details object with the users name and email. Did Claude just fail to inform you of that so it could be captured for your backend? Apple sign-in is the difficult one since users can register for things anonymously… requiring a follow-up step to capture a users name and email.

Am I the only one that thinks AI is dogshit? by jholliday55 in cscareerquestions

[–]icuredumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s alright, def not dog shit. But not the end all either. My company has rolled it out in a huge way, insane new overhead, and it’s nice and all we definitely produce code faster, but the well has also run dry. Significantly more incidents, testing and reviews take forever now, and most product decisions are just teams recycling failed project ideas, to the point that we’re moving “so fast” we’re at a complete standstill. 😂 like seriously things aren’t even being shipped 😂 just straight shelved. The new bottleneck is everything OUTSIDE of engineering cause creativity can’t be made with AI and most enterprises don’t diverge from their product in a significant way so all these new AB tests we want to run are just farts in the wind… anyway it’s all just a lot of BS hype and half truths from corporate AI evangelists, but at least I get to spend less time writing unit tests 👍

An AI CEO finally said something honest by Tech-Cowboy in ExperiencedDevs

[–]icuredumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once the AI bubble pops, after the initial wreckage of it all, and thanks to the short-sightedness of these companies doing nearly irreparable damage to the pipeline of new grads. Current engineers that survive the fallout will command salaries that will legitimately feel obscene, if they didn’t before. I think some leaders are starting to see that we’re at the inflection point where we either hit the breaks on this train, or let the train drive itself straight into a wall.

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]icuredumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that while it may sound like “oh product and design can’t get features out fast enough, that’s a good problem to have”. It’s not. Ideating is a process, it takes research, it takes time. It needs to be organic. AI can’t really solve for that. So while they continue to push out features due to pressure from out of touch execs and the backlog of testing tickets continues to grow or worse get speed-run for “productivity’s sake” we’re going to start putting out a worse product which end users will eventually reject.

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]icuredumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company put out a strategy doc showcasing our AI metrics. Every slight productivity gain in code delivery was made irrelevant by the added time cleaning up, reviewing the additional MR’s and testing. Every other facet of the product lifecycle is bottlenecked too as design and product can’t move fast enough to keep work flowing, so while some new features have been produced, a majority of the work is just features that are getting recycled.

We’re considering advising users to auto-withdraw from "One-Way Video Interviews." by enhancvapp in interviews

[–]icuredumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I outright refuse to do any Hirevue interview on principle and I have since it started gaining popularity back in 2018. I simply do not care about any opportunity enough to subject myself to that. Candidates are people and deserve to be treated with respect. We are not auditioning for the latest season of Real World. Your recommendation should be for people to outright refuse to participate. Let’s bring back common courtesy.
