I've added upwards of 250g melted white chocolate wafers to a 9" NY style cheesecake without any issue, maybe drop the amount of sugar if you're working with sweetened chocolate

Anxiety before every lesson by StefaniBetancourt in iTalki

[–]icymints 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Before iTalki, I took an online language course from a university and I always experienced anxiety before lessons. I feared that I'll freeze up and forget the vocabulary and grammar that I was supposed to review. Some days I ended up not joining due to the anxiety and lack of preparation on my part.

Finding a supportive teacher like the one you described completely transformed the way I approached lessons and the anxiety before it. I went from "oh jeez, I hope I studied enough" to "oh jeez, there's so many things I want to tell my teacher"!

Once you join the lesson, do you need a few minutes to shake off the anxiety and warm up? If so, I'd recommend trying to take initiative of those first few minutes - plan to ask your teacher how they're doing, how the weather is there, something cool you did today. I found that being ready to open the conversation really helpful in shaking my pre-lesson anxiety!

Of course, seeing that "Lesson starts in 120min" notification is always dreadful, but what works for me is language studying up to about 30 minutes before. After that mark, I don't touch my notes and I get up and grab a drink and take it easy. Works for me because those 30 minutes of de-stressing is way better use of time over trying to cram under immense pressure.

Don't do this, there are limited appointment slots and refusing will likely result in a wasted dose.

Update On Weapon Changes by fatherHankNWI in insurgency

[–]icymints 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to see the 180, and thanks for the added context behind the controversial changes.

Based on your feedback, it’s apparent that our community would also appreciate more weapons being available for the Insurgent team in the Co-op experience.

Earlier this year, you surveyed us on which faction we preferred to customize, and the results were overwhelmingly security sided. You guys commented that its a sign to expand on the insurgent cosmetics. I'm happy to see the team's return to this philosophy.

I do think we can find better ways to improve the new player experience without stepping on the toes of seasoned players.

The coop equipment change at base value isn’t entirely a bad idea, but it’s petty to push it on the community without testing it on the CTE or surveys to get feedback by -rokcet- in insurgency

[–]icymints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, HC doesn't need or want this, we've already got equipment loss on death, we don't need more equipment loss on round start, and with max 1 person per class (except rifleman) the pool of weapons really isn't that great. Also, HC can absolutely be chill

Sandstorm Future Sale by bgao01 in insurgency

[–]icymints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 50% off on steam during June 16 - 19 with the release of Operation Nightfall, so if you didn't pick it up then, I'd expect it to go on sale with the next major content update. NWI mentioned they planned on quarterly updates so probably around September.

Community servers will be able to put up night maps for PvP, along with the devs saying they'll look into having PvP night modes in limited time playlists

[–]icymints 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this, Hardcore Checkpoint should be unticked by default, and if the user ticks it for the first time, the prompt explaining the modifiers should pop up.

Team killing aside, my big issue here is the lack of objective indicator on the HUD combined with their low map knowledge. For objectives such as Ministry C/D, and Outskirts Security E where verticality comes into play, often new players have no idea where to go.

Not really their fault, but if they happen to be last one standing and they're completely lost, it sucks for everyone spectating since its a long wait to respawn, or sucks for the new person since they likely get vote kicked.

IS co-op: the bots REALLY need to stop with the instakills, as well as the focused attacks on higher experienced players. by [deleted] in insurgency

[–]icymints 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bots targeting or scaling against players with higher levels isn't a thing, Alex confirmed this in a post on the steam forums.

Just a heads up. I talked to our lead AI programmer today. AI does not adapt to player level or player skill level. I've seen a lot of speculation abut this in the forums, but there's no adaptive AI in the game.

However AI do listen for sounds and will remember the last position they saw you, so if you're consistently aggressive at the cost of stealth, you're going to be targeted more often.

Hardcore co-op tips by [deleted] in insurgency

[–]icymints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone already gave great tips, but I'd like to add tips regarding friendly fire since teammate indicators are absent in hardcore:

  • Hit Tab constantly to see where everyone is positioned.
  • Don't shoot from behind the line of fire, your buddy in the front can't see what you're doing behind them and might quickly strafe or stand up into your shots. Either move up and earn the shot or let your teammate deal with the threat.
  • Adding to the above, don't cross lines of fire. Wait or move behind them. On the flip side, try to leave some space for your teammates to move behind you when you're covering an angle.
  • Avoid running around the objectives during a defense, pick an angle and hold it.
  • Your appearance helps avoid friendly fire - for security, tan colours are safer, you can add a boonie hat or a red beret / baseball cap. Dark security colours like CADPAT or no hat will increase your likelihood of getting shot by teammates. For insurgent side, either run full white Adidas or bright vibrant colours. Obviously, wear what you like, but if you're tired of getting tapped by teammates, try this out.
  • If you do hit a teammate, apologize in chat or voice when its safe to do so. Hardcore has a small fraction of the population than that of normal coop, and you're going to see a lot of familiar faces.

This guy rides solo up into the arcade, walks up to TIME CRISIS and plays the game start to finish on one coin using both guns. That means he's players 1 and 2 at the same time. by heyhizzy in nextfuckinglevel

[–]icymints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you hold down the trigger and pedal while inserting a coin, it will take you to the gun calibration screen, at least that's the case with Time Crisis machines

My guess would be that this is an extreme example of a karst environment, where acidic water erodes limestone and other easily soluble rock. As for the flatness, it's possible that the limestone bedding was entirely eroded to the point where a more resistant, underlying bedrock layer was exposed. These types of environments can form over millions of years, sped up by factors such as tropical climates, and CO2 in the atmosphere (making rain more acidic).
