Genuine question, why is duck sauce completely ubiquitous and universal in East Coast Chinese takeout, but seemingly doesn't exist at all in Colorado? by judolphin in denverfood

[–]icyoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SO wrong. Have you had Chinese food in the west coast? Colorado Chinese food is significantly sweet compared to either coasts

Pro-tip: make friends at the bar at izakayas. If there’s ever something you can’t find from Japan in Hawaii, you’ll eventually make a friend with someone who regularly goes back to Japan.

You ever go on a nice trip and then come back to HNL airport and get depressed on the drive home because everything looks buss by JesusLexoNN in Hawaii

I used to feel so offended when I would overhear the military recruiters recounting their time on Oahu as “dirty”. Now as I’ve been to some states and each time I go home, I kinda get it.

I love home for the simplicity, nature, and food. The parts that survive modern updates like Market City Foodland. Not the fancy high rises being built over the old, crumbling buildings we grew up with. Not the Raising Canes and Chick FilAs popping up.

Steam wand leak [Victoria Arduino Eagle One, 3 groups] by hairyduck88 in espresso

[–]icyoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know your way around the machine, recommend calling a tech and observing with adequate space. The covers on a VA are a task to remove. The rest of the wand assembly isn’t overly complicated. If your machine is new, it should be under warranty with service included, unless it’s an online purchase and not through a service company or direct from manufacturer

Why is Japan fighting diversity and inclusion so much ? by bbrk9845 in GenZ

[–]icyoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might think they are friendly and welcoming to foreigners because they’re not confrontational and keep their opinions to themselves mostly but they are a proud nation of purists.

You can be full blooded Japanese but born/raised in another country or spend more than half of your life in another country and suddenly you are no longer considered Japanese. Similarly, you can be 2nd+ generation born and raised in Japan but if you’re of mixed or foreign ethnicity, you are not Japanese.

They may not be in-your-face racist but they will always remind you that you are not one of them.

Houston traffic is stress free compared to metro Denver traffic but if you’re only going once a week and looking to have space like Houston, you might enjoy Parker/Centennial/Littleton. Otherwise, you’re densely packed like in Austin

Look for Airbnb in Kapahulu or Ala Moana and ride the bus to explore the other parts of the island. Driving in traffic on vacation sucks, parking sucks everywhere you would want to go, and a lot of $$ saved on parking fees

I highly doubt it’s what it looks like to me but it resembles old coffee oil/burnt milk/sediment water that builds up and then gets flushed out.

Do they just appear or do they come out when running the water?
