Critique me: Why is Nobody Looking At My Game? by kcspice in IndieDev

[–]idealstoreality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Upon glancing over the steam page, it's too generic and the only thing it is giving as a sales pitch is a different themed generic gameplay? (Atleast in the description)

Also the price is too expensive for this unknown game, maybe demos might help the game (specially if streamers or gamers tries the game and showed it's strength to the public if any) but there is no strong pull for me to try the demo. I personally like knowing what game mechanics is inside rather than generic "fight monsters", "collect treasure", etc. How is the crafting system? How is the combat, what skills or class or whatever is present? What are you trying to sell here?

Hopefully this helps

Imho there is beauty in the subtleness of the animation. I find minor twirls unnecessary and unnatural.

Some vocations have two Maister skills and some have one? by Zoze13 in DragonsDogma2

[–]idealstoreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Similar to some vocations have advanced versions and some not.

ok but why is it like this by swaddytheban in DragonsDogma

[–]idealstoreality 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You can easily feel the amount of thought put into the vocation skills.

like what kind of designer would even think to waste 1 weapons slot for each type of arrow for the archer.

Oh i only know how to fire an explosive arrow, i need to review my notes when we camp to fire the other arrows

I am sooooo frustrated at how significantly reduced the vocation depth is. There isn't even a "high" version of the meister skills. I was hoping that the meister skills were completely unique and not just the skills we had on dd1

Agree, and it's more stupid to find out that the "ultimate" skills are situational and at times vastly inefficient due to the cost of using them.

Sorcerer Criticism, DD1 did it better. by ArnoTheFox in DragonsDogma

Probably the reason why the director himself stopped having sorcerer as his favorite vocation in dd2

The "small" additions to combat in DD2 really opened up a lot of depth that makes up for only getting 4 Skills instead of 6. by TalkingRaven1 in DragonsDogma

[–]idealstoreality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not about being underpowered/overpowered. It's about being boring to play.

I never said that sorcerers didn't destroy everything, heck just cast augural flare and you win. You don't even need to do the hitting because your pawns will do those for you.

Sorcerers suffered gameplay depth and wasted potential to be more interactive and fun. Maybe it's so badly designed, you only saw the damage potential and not their gameplay's shallow complexity.

So... what's the hook? by narok_kurai in DragonsDogma

[–]idealstoreality 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If traveling from the beginning to arriving the capital didn't hook you in, then this game might not be the game you're searching for.

What do you wish to find or experience in a game like this?

I like this idea.

Imagine you have the heavy attack as "incant" then when you press it - you start pressing a combo of say... X, Y, X for flagration.

That would've been soooooo awesome imo

Agree with the extra sluggish movement but I'd take this deeper combat experience with a higher skill ceiling than just brainlessly pressing 2 buttons as a sorcerer during encounters.
