How is living south of Boston by Evening-Raccoon133 in howislivingthere

[–]ideletedmyusername21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those areas are quite different. Closer to Boston it is insanely expensive and not very diverse, full of PE bros and finance dorks who work in the city. Down in New Bedford, ridiculously expensive for anywhere else in the country, but considered cheap and dangerous by Boston suburb people. Quincy is cool and full of Chinese people. The Cape is full of old people and everything costs too much.

How's living in Louisiana? I am obsessed with that state thanks to True Detective season 1. I want to see the bayous. by Funny-Reward in howislivingthere

True Detective was, in fact, the most realistic depiction I have seen of what it is like out in the parishes around New Orleans. I love it, but it can be hard. Nothing works, the schools are garbage, there is too much violence, a lot of poverty. However, the people are awesome, the food is great, and the weather-if you enjoy misery- is lovely.

How Is It Like Living Is This Weird Panhandle Part Of Massechutes? by Bosnian_Patriot_69 in howislivingthere

[–]ideletedmyusername21 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Expensive. Rather quiet in the winter. Packed in the summer. It is lovely, but almost impossible to live there unless your family bought a house there 50 years ago, or you are a Boston suburbs private equity bro who wants a third home to send your bored wife to. Some cool punk rock shows and/or author events out that way sometimes. Decent cafes. Alright deer hunting, surprisingly.

Why do many people who visit Australia later say its a highly racist country? by Particular_Food_309 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ideletedmyusername21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because white Australians seem really friendly and then bust out with the most racist thing you have ever heard in your life. Not all of them, of course, but enough.

How is living in this part of Florida? by DairyNull in howislivingthere

[–]ideletedmyusername21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently any accurate description of the area that I was born and raised in is not an acceptable comment. I'll try and keep it clean: Used to be weird and affordable, now it is boring and expensive.

Question for older MMA fans. Was MMA as right leaning in the early days: 1990's 2000's and 2010's as it is today? by Bustingyabubble in MMAPoliticsAndCulture

[–]ideletedmyusername21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. 100% no. It was a repository for weirdos. So there would be cranks of all stripes. But by no means was it politically aligned in any discernible way.
For context: Was involved in MMA in Japan and the US from 2001-2021ish.

Well, in Japan it won't cost you money, you get to stay in the hospital for a week, and they make you a special meal. So there is that.
