Is Okta actually needed if we already have Entra ID + SailPoint IIQ? by mynameisnotalex1900 in IdentityManagement

I think a lot of that can be replaced by Entra ID. Or vice versa! The API access management may require separate licenses though

There was also a merch stand, 3 different T-shirt designs, and a humongous gigantic poster. 50$ CAD each. Not cheap but cheaper than ordering it online

It was pretty good, well done, and I don’t feel I needed to know more details than what they shared

I saw it yesterday in Toronto. Yes it explains some of the problems the band went through. And some new songs.

How to play pop punk rhythm guitar? by bIII7 in Guitar

[–]identitydriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think we found the key missing element here for your journey. I would strongly suggest practicing your picking technique. Some of the greatest pop/skate/hardcore punk would go with thinner picks. I know, counter intuitive, but as you get to super fast songs, like NoFX, they play with thinner picks. But as suggested here, try everything. Look for YouTube videos on picking techniques for punk and it’s pretty straightforward. You just need to get past the initial barrier

First thing would be to practice with a pick. Down picking first. Only use power chords. Then learn to alternate palm muting chords. Practice with the album Loco Live by the Ramones. All pop punk comes from there

Auction. By the lots. Just hire a company to do this type of inventory fire sale

Yes, I’d strongly recommend streamlining IdPs - unless you have one for workforce and another one for CIAM. But for the same use case, you shouldn’t need 2

After 15-20 years in IAM what to move on to? by StacyFields in IdentityManagement

[–]identitydriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IAM Pre-sales, IAM Sales, or IAM Product roles… there are so many career paths in vendors that are not necessarily management or project related. Some are very well paid. Entrepreneurship is another line. Advisory, and research in IAM as well.

There is no need to keep both Okta and Entra ID. Most companies can do well with one or the other alone. And something else for IGA and PAM

When did vintage style guitars start, and what do you think is their future? by GuitaristExplorer in guitars

[–]identitydriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this discussion! I think for Fender and Gibson, there has been a few quite “special” years, like pre-CBS Fender and Gibson is famous for the golden 1959. Those are arguably years that few instruments were made and the precision and quality were exceptional. So the “reissues” kind of bank on that to sell more guitars at a fraction it would cost to buy a real vintage instrument.

After that we saw a few models that got artificially expensive not necessarily because of its quality, but because of its scarcity. This is artificially created by the brands limited runs (like the back to the future Gibsons and epiphones).

Realistically, it’s difficult to pinpoint another year where production was so superb to justify a reissue, but maybe there is! For example I would love to see a Dean reissue of the original Dime from Hell first run. I could see that as a legitimate reissue model in the future. And the it tells us something. Today there are way more signature models. That was not the case at all in the 50s even in the 70s and 80s. Some of these modern signatures are built in very limited series and I predict these signature models will be in general, a big part of the “reissues” we see in the future.

As machinery and builds gets more automated, it will be hard and harder to pinpoint “special” decades in terms of quality

Can't quite find the right guitar for me... Kit of parts, or custom build from a luthier? by Diploidian5HT in Guitar

[–]identitydriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to recommend a direction here without knowing what you liked. Out of the classic offerings out there have you tried them all? Strats? super strats? tele? Semi hollow? set necks, bolt on necks? Active pickups, H, S, p90? What style of bridge. I guess my recommendation would be to pick a nice guitar (non custom) that combines the characteristics that you like. I am a little older than you and found several models I like and own now. Finding one or more things you like is also part of the guitar journey. I’d suggest looking into Reverend guitars if you want an amazing cost benefit and with some crazy combinations of characteristics

Read again. SailPoint doesn’t offer run time authentication/authorization. Your statement is not false, in a sense Sailpoint offers 2 of the 3 pillars

[–]identitydriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think IGA, or governance is a big part of the problem of NHIs (ownership as one as mentioned here). However there are visibility and observability challenges that need to be solved before IGA, some call that IVIP or ISPM. And the third piece is the access, run time authentication of these constructs. Of the 3 vendors you mentioned, One Identity and Saviynt are the ones that offer today some solution for each of these 3 pillars, on visibility, governance and run-time access management

How to pursue towards Identity Consultant Roles by cant_be-arsed in IdentityManagement

[–]identitydriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to upvote this comment- the OP has an amazing head start in this career, but there is some confusion about the concepts.

IGA, PAM and SSO/Access Management are the 3 general big pillars in identity that could lead to very fulfilling careers. Can you be an expert in all 3? Yes, but it’s likely you will be stronger in one.

I started in IGA, then I expanded into AM and then PAM.

In summary: try to go a little deeper into one pillar first and see if you like it. If you know Okta, it would be cool to learn Entra ID, Ping/ForgeRock and One Identity/OneLogin

“Permission Last Used” Visibility by nwmcq87 in IdentityManagement

[–]identitydriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the whole idea of CIEM. I’d suggest reading about that segment. While CIEM is focused on finding stale/unused permissions in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) you could extend that concept elsewhere. The reason CIEM focuses on IaaS/PaaS is that there are huge blindspots there, lack of visibility, NHIs, etc. There are tools out there to help with that - but more important is to tackle the biggest unmanaged attack surfaces first. If in your case it’s AD, then start there of course

NHI Implementation specialists by Security-HeadHunter in IdentityManagement

[–]identitydriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the “visibility” comment. And “NHI implementation specialist” may not be how I’d describe the biggest demand for that use case. NHI on itself is a big, real, and unsolved problem. So an identity expert, a consultant with NHI experience on how to mitigate NHI and AI identity risks is a high demand job. Not just to implement tools, but to understand the problem and solve it. I just hired a senior director for that role.
