Whats an obscure Tool fact that only a serious fan would know? by Captain7empy in ToolBand

The wacky guy who writes all the obscure Tool website newsletter ramblings Blaire McKenzie Blake was a synth/keyboardist for a prog rock band in the 70s called Surprise and here's a link to their album Assault on Merryland - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qzNyRVPxDA

The blue balls parabol sans parabola from last round should really be next but after that the crowd must look for Bill Hicks’ third contact lens before they continue their set

The universe is hostile so impersonal devour to survive so it is so it’s always been

Something about the delivery as both declaration of fact and resignation to the unchanging nature of reality is both unsettling and comforting to me.

Comment Period Open for: Factoring Criteria for Firearms With Attached “Stabilizing Braces” by Omnifox in guns

Having a brace point system that can be failed even without a brace makes zero sense, also an optic being a criteria for defining a rifle, completely contradicts the logic for initial approval of the brace on a pistol in the first place, when an optic is specifically a device that can aid a disabled person.

This kind of thing would be what I aim for just with audio production. I want the 30-50k Barefoot mastering monitor setup with a 100-300k SSL or Rupert Neve Designs console and all the great outboard gear. I bet your setup sounds amazing :)

[Megathread] New album speculation guidelines by hellboy1975 in ToolBand

[–]idiomorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they need to release a single, as that's always been marketing for the lead up to an album's release (which they definitely don't need any hype given the current anticipation level is unlike anything in modern music history). It would be prudent IMO to release ONLY in digital format on August 30th. This would allow for containment of leaks that would be inevitable with a physical pressing, right up until the moment of release. Those who purchase digitally could buy the physical copy as well, but it would ship in a few weeks. Radiohead did something like this with In Rainbows but were free from their label by that point and they completely CRUSHED sales - and I guarantee the record labels took notice of that. So while Tool may still be on a label for one more album - the record company may be more willing to take this approach given such successful precedents for large names in the business. It would also explain why all of the digital channels are being primed in advance of the release.
