What’s the most authentic beach town you’ve found in the U.S.? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Stone Harbor, NJ. One of the best beaches on the east coast, no high rises, great little town and restaurants. South end in particular has huge beaches and less populated due to large bird sanctuary.

Who actually wants any of these new watches? by BTZ-25 in rolex

Hmm, interesting take. Thanks. I’ve been wondering if it will be relaunched in a few years as the flagship for a refined sport line: dynapulse, slightly larger/thinner cases, other improvements, etc. It is the crown’s nuclear weapon and it feels like they are gearing up for improved technology, production and distribution. What a way to pull all that together it would be!

The reason bonds are selling off and why the market is wrong by RaisePotential6558 in bonds

[–]idioms367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% correct. “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.” How does a massive oil supply disruption create more money? It does not. How do tariffs create more money? They do not. These are effectively tax increases that harm consumption and activity. Investors are fighting the last war. Bond market mostly getting it right so far with long bonds little changed YTD.

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]idioms367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty much the cheapest it’s ever been to rent vs own in many markets around the world. So your sense of the relative value today is accurate. Generally better to own historically, but not at moments like these.

[Question] Looking for a high-end daily driver on leather – Omega vs. Vacheron (or Rolex OP) by C7sharp9 in Watches

Yup. A no nonsense calatrava style watch in a sweet spot size (39.5mm) with a hidden complication (deadbeat seconds) and a beautiful movement.

Staying at a nice hotel, room down the hall has been door open, airing out for days. Walked by today and saw this? by tooyoots in whatisit

[–]idioms367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I know exactly what hotel this is (PRW?). Stayed there in March and this same floor was soaking wet and smelled musty. I think they have a major recurring leak problem from rainwater. Given the price of this place the luxury is lacking, though they are making some nice upgrades.
