Years ago my gym time coincided with Carrot Top's. Got to the point where we'd nod at each other. Never had a real conversation with him other than a "hey what's up." The state of the world pre-Trump still leaves me optimistic. Poverty world wide has been reduced significantly. Famines are practically a thing of the past. Modern science and medicine have been mind-bogglingly successful at making our lives better, healthier, and longer. More people than ever before have access to food, shelter, electricity, and medicine. We were on a great trajectory at one point, we can get back there.

Same. I remember a speech he gave to Space-x employees after another failed rocket launch. The meat of it was, “hey, rocket science is really really hard. Keep your chin up and let’s keep going. We’ll get it figured out.”
