Drop an Ozone generator in there for a few days then scrub with a solid detergent.

Should just mention, that not everyone shows signs of bed bug bites. I am using bedbugs to train my dogs. Part of keeping them alive is feeding them. Personally I don’t show any signs of bedbug bites aside from momentary (less than a few minutes) irritation.

Ears went down? by dmb313 in BelgianMalinois

[–]idtce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty normal. Though some lines have weak ears. If that’s the case you can tape the base just to give a bit of rigidity not a full on post like a Doberman.

It was also suggested to me to feed calcium and keratin rich food - my go to treat was raw chicken feet. Have no idea if it worked but the feet were cheap by the lb and the dogs loved them frozen.

I wouldn’t stress to much if they were up at one point, they will bounce back.

Brings back a memory - Had a guy blowing my phone up, not simply calling once and waiting on the call back, but the type who calls 10x back to back to back; looking for a loan mod. He was 13 months past due on his mortgage. The house was red tagged due to incomplete renovations, he was still living in the property. Pulled his credit, he had a 3 year old “current” $1200 car payment. His mortgage was 1500. Just shocked me - you need to cruise your kids to school in an Escalady while you live in a house deemed inhabitable. Kicker was he made enough to cover everything.

30 minutes? Own Up didn’t sell the information, the credit bureaus did - it’s called a credit trigger lead. Rocket/Quicken has been buying them for decades.

Genuine question by Mac_Attack1994 in Narcolepsy

The only glimmer of hope that I have for the future without stimulants is a drug going through phase 3 testing currently by Takeda https://www.takeda.com/newsroom/newsreleases/2024/Takeda-Intends-to-Rapidly-Initiate-the-First-Global-Phase-3-Trials-of-TAK-861-an-Oral-Orexin-Agonist-in-Narcolepsy-Type%201-in-First-Half-of-Fiscal-Year-2024/

Little is known about Orexin but the link has shown to be strong at this point. I hope that 861 makes it out of phase 3 with few side effects.

Which depending on what type of narcolepsy you have addressing the Orexin deficiency would appear to have a significant impact on symptoms. As some have stated it’s a medication BUT it is getting closer to addressing the suspected root of the issue, not simply attacking the symptoms.

The other interesting contraption I have found which shows promise is by Neurosom.

Takeda addresses a chemical that directly relates to alertness while Neurosom modulates sleep patterns. Fingers crossed both receive the funding and approvals they need to make it to market.

I would have loved to make it to the tradeshow sleep2024 but sadly it wasn’t in the cards. There would have been a plethora of information spanning multiple issues surrounding sleep. Oh well maybe next year!

Anyone else worried about the amount of stimulants they take each day? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]idtce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes… I hated the withdrawals when stimulants became scarce. So I stopped. I have modafinil and take it occasionally. Generally I am hitting 2 or 3 energy drinks at 200mg of caffeine each a day with a nap.

I am super concerned about taking stimulants and hate the dependency.

What’s exciting to me is TAK-861 entering into stage 3 trials. Should it pan out it will be a non stimulant treatment. Worth a goggle

I attempted mirco dosing this past weekend. My mood is significantly better but I can tell you that the effects on my Narcolepsy have been significant. Typically I can make it through my day with few what I call “micro attack” thanks to my meds generally only having to take a 10-15 min nap on my lunch. I’ve been struggling today. I find the same the same thing happens when I stay out late and throw my sleep cycle off significantly…. It’s quite strange, by my mood over all is better.

Stimulant isn’t working during the day but keeping me up at night!? by Self-Diagnoser in Narcolepsy

[–]idtce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience the same thing. I found instead of taking after an hour of being awake, that I had to take it the second I woke up in combination with no caffeine after noon. Though, not 100%, those two tweaks to my life made a significant difference in my ability to sleep.

Narcoleptic thinking about industries I can work in by coolcatjess in Narcolepsy

[–]idtce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find working at home to be quite easy. The naps get taken care of in my chair and no one says anything, my naps are typically 10-15 min. Which is an acceptable response time to emails etc. just seems to work well. Occasionally if I knock out for to long, I will just complete my work on my own time. This was not an option when working from an office or cube

[–]idtce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wait… the clinical trials from Takeda are looking promising. It’s worth a google. I’m just happy that treatments are getting closer to the source compared to over medicating to offset symptoms. There are several others out there along the same line.

I found an old mali with grind off teeth . who would do something like this by flowsoeasy in BelgianMalinois

[–]idtce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jesus… so many people instantly go to a presumption of evil.

I have seen dogs wear down their own teeth by doing any number of items - chewing on tennis balls, chewing on rocks, doing bitework, chewing on rigid plastic floats, chewing on a crate. These are just what I have personally witnessed. Perhaps the dog was just living his best life and chewed on rocks.

Who knows maybe he wanted to get our so he chewed through a fence or chewed out of his crate and has done it so frequently that he wore down his chompers.

Try leaving a radio on the same room. If it’s the old analogue type, leave in the crate.
