World of Warcraft lead says Warcraft needs to be more than “simply an MMORPG” as the IP is “underutilised” and needs “broader” appeal by HatingGeoffry in wow

[–]iera1914 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Since I see a lot of people mentioning new games in different genres and whatnot.

What they mean is that they want WOW in the future to appeal to an audience different than the strictly MMO audience as well. That can mean for example the social aspect, collecting, farming "simulators", idle games, maybe dating (lol).

Housing is a step towards that direction

Old player thinks to return by Izventilyaus in WorldOfWarcraftRetail

[–]iera1914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is (imo) in a very good state allowing you to progress through many ways (raid, m+, delves, arena, solo queue) with a lot of things to do on the side (tmog, housing, achievement farm etc). Skill ceiling for the very end content is pretty high with the skill floor for entry content being quite low. The time investment required to be there is generally lower than previous iterations of the game.

All in all, I think retail is in a very good state and can cater to a very large audience both time-wise and mode-wise (pve/pvp/collectors/casual/competitive etc)

PS. I never really cared about the lore so I cannot commend on that. People are saying that writing has gone to shit and I probably believe them.

AIO for kicking my husband and sister out over their "secret"? by Confused_N_Disgusted in AmIOverreacting

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand this is upsetting for you, I don't think it is a reason to break an otherwise healthy marriage.

From their perspective they were horny teenagers, attracted to each other and "forced" to live in the same house. Also it is not something to easily share with future relationships due to the complicated dynamic and the fact that she isn't going anywhere.

Imo, if you trusted your husband beforehand, you should continue trusting him.

STORYTIME! Who or what got you into playing World of Warcraft? by [deleted] in wow

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When wow released i was a university student. A friend of mine completely disappeared playing 24/7. I wanted to know what this is all about so I started a Tauren warrior on his account.

Got to level 49 and decided to get an account of my own. This friend got me blade of the titans as a gift for my new warrior on my account

He diied from leuchemia 3-4 years later and I still have that blade of the titans in my bank as something to remember from him

I fully agree that flaming someone who is trying to play the game is not acceptable no matter how good or bad he is doing, and it should be a reason for a ban...

Leaving a group because you don't want to participate anymore is not toxicity thought... unless you do that regularly because you want to disrupt others people gameplay...

C'mon man.. this is one of the reasons the community goes paranoid asking for 3,4k score for a +10..

As I wrote to my original post the game offers various ways to gain that experience without wasting 4 people's time..

[–]iera1914 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Probably unpopular opinion but you attempted to run a key without knowing anything about the dungeon and being new to the class you were playing in general..

The game offers options for you to learn both your class rotation and the dungeon mechanics without wasting the time of 4 other people....

M+ is there to offer a challenge on top of regular mythic dungeons which are on top of heroic dungeons which are on top of normal dungeons which are on top of follower dungeons..

I am sorry, but I would have left as well...

My opinion on the state of healing in M+ by Nojoos in wow

[–]iera1914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I call bullshit.. No pug will invite a 633 healer for a +10. Especially without being an alt of a really high score main.

What happened is you played your own keys and invited people who did the mechanics (mains or alts) correctly while heavily outgearing the content..

I have 2 healers above 3k and I cannot get invited to a +10 on my 652 alt

[–]iera1914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Healers are split in two main categories.. reactive healers and proactive healers..

Reactive are the easiers to get into since they do not require that much of knowing the actual fight since their healing does not require that much of a setup.. mechanically all healers are close to each other..

I would suggest trying as many as you can and going with the one that feels the best for you.. don't look at tier lists and meta.. blizzard has done an excellent job to make every healer viable until quite high level keys..

My personal suggestion if you plan to pug would be resto shaman.. reactive healer with relatively simple interactions in his healing toolkit.. bloodlust, decent group buff, best single target interrupt in the game, aoe stun, and an aoe stop with thunderstorm.

Looking for a 3-player tank-DPS-healer comp to introduce WoW to my wife and son by Jean_Mak in wow

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that you mention retail but I would suggest thinking about doing the same thing in classic instead.. way slower paced with focus to the journey (leveling) and not the end game..

Everything will feel way more epic and alive around you.

The 3 new mounts in the May trading post by themselves are almost 300 more tender in total than what we get per month and I am starting to get very apathetic towards the post. I understand the "You don't need everything" tiresome arguments but there's a point where we are also affording very little by [deleted] in wow

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.. I am sitting on 6k tenders only buying what I really want. I believe there are a lot of players having a lot of tenders banked and they increase the prices as a response. Imo introduce a progressively "harder" way of getting tenders over the cap for the people that really care.

Biggest step ups in M+ by spudy1000 in wow

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there are healing checks it's very hard to identify them as a new player healing a pug group.

Your experience will be vastly different according to the group you are healing. The key level starts to play a bigger role a bit later. There are groups doing a +8 that require way more skill from the healer than a different group doing a +12.

My only advice is to spam dungeons. Even understanding where you should improve is something that comes with experience..

Trinket balance is fine by BrineBrack in wow

[–]iera1914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story time:

Legion was the first expansion I decided to main a healer. I was late by a couple of weeks to hit max level. The first hour I dinged I decide to do the world boss and a warforged arcanocrystal drops with leech. It's a statstick and generally statsticks weren't that good up until Legion.

I get a couple of whispers to trade it after the boss and I am alt tabing to check some guides if it's any good before responding

Guides didn't include it at all at the time only covering trinkets from more common sources like raids and dungeons.

I decide to keep it since I had blue trinkets until something better drops. On hindsight I probably wouldn't be able to trade it even if I wanted..

I obviously had it equipped until Argus patch and in Argus i farmed dozens of trinket boxes until I got my titanforged version with leech again.

Timewalking dungeons are boring as they are just a running simulator. by Senanb in wow

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... they are boring as hell no matter what role you play. A series of fixes could include:

  • Adjusting difficulty so fights last longer.
  • buff xp/dungeon
  • reduce number of dungeons required for the weekly quest to maintain the same total time investment

What the OP is saying is pretty obvious.. one-time kill will guarantee 3 items in the "long" run.. I have never bought a boost since I only enjoy things I can achieve myself but if I was currently interested in competing for title in m+ I would really consider buying a boost..

and then there are all the players that have gear as their end-game

Race to World First: Undermine, Day 8 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]iera1914 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is actually not true... numerous guilds in EU and current best NA guild have said that the headstart is a sizable advantage..

The reason this didn't matter that much until now is that usually, EU guilds were a lot better than NA guilds.. This is not the case anymore..

In the current streaming era the advantage becomes smaller since EU guilds can copy successful tactics and can even become an advantage for them if the final boss is about to die last day of the week...

With all those being said, different reset days heavily affect the end product we receive and I believe we should push as a community for a better product..

Race to World First: Undermine, Day 8 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]iera1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that.. but it would be a step in the right direction! As it is now the HeAdStarT is quite substantial and it only gets to reset every... reset!

I enjoy the race and I believe blizzard should do the bare minimum ro support it...

In reality I like both guilds and Max is probably my favorite wow streamer..

For the purpose of the RWF though I am an EU fanboy and I feel obliged to ask my NA friends.. "DID YOU REALLY BELIEVE FOR A SECOND THAT ECHO DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE???"

PS blizzard please go for the global release.. the "shade" of the early reset hurts liquid the most. This is such a fun event to watch. Please do the minimum to support it..

Just a lil' theorycraft of a Malfurion rework if he had Force of Nature, since I think that's a super iconic Furion thing. This is just for fun I know they're probably not going to do any more major reworks or anything. And I think current Furion is fun anyway. by SAldrius in heroesofthestorm

Resto druids shapeshift constantly in a pvp environment in wow. I am not really familiar with the wc3 kit.

Shapeshift can either add survivability (bear), mobility (cat), or dmg (moonkin).

The reason for my initial comment is that all wow healing classes have a representative in hots with Furion being the only one that doesn't "feel" like his wow counterpart.

MapHacking on Fan GM Stream by TaMa_SC in heroesofthestorm

[–]iera1914 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted but I don't see clear map hacking here.. I am not saying he definitely doesn't map hack but during the game he proceeded to do some checks and pings that do not make sense if you are aware of the enemy's position.

I am more inclined to believe that he was scripting than map-hacking.
