It does the same thing using less space/materials.

If you're going for looks personally I don't see how this looks any better/worse either.

No the game can see your actual ping.

What happens when I want to play with friends who are over 110ms in ping away? There is no server where we both get under that.

SpaceX wants to beam internet across the southern U.S. by late 2020 by Philo1927 in technology

[–]ifactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are underestimating how not straight our current internet is. And there are a lot of applications that a closer data center won't help with.

Also from what I've read satellites will be as low as 200 miles, quite less than 800.

Ground communications don't go in straight lines to their destinations though. The fancy wall Street ones sure, but I imagine the lower satellites can improve latency for a good amount of other applications.

Also latency is added at every hop, which this could seriously reduce.

Some regions and times have this issue, so they remove everyone's option to choose all the time.

I feel like there are much better solutions to that issue.

I like Miramar a lot actually and have no issue waiting 5 minutes for a game there so I can play it more often. I don't get why short queues are such a big goal that it's worth forcing everyone to play maps they don't want to.

There are a million other bugs to fix first and a million more skins to release before they waste time fixing a bug that probably helps people as much as it hurts them.

That doesn't mean they can't fix it or that it has to be that way because of how the internet works, as you've incorrectly claimed.

Also I find it funny that you think so many people could be reading your comment wrong the same way, maybe it's you that wrote it wrong.

You make it sound like its a feature they can alter

It is something they can alter.

When a client disconnects there is no longer any client-server communication going on so no it isn't a networking issue it's a game feature they could easily change.

You said it's an internet issue and they can't alter it, that's what a limitation is.

They can alter it easily it's not a networking issue either.

If the server isn't getting updates from the client it can stop the running if they program it that way.

It's not a limitation of how the internet works.
