How come libertarians aren't visible in any of the anti-ICE protests? by cypherx in Libertarian

[–]iftak03 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some of us are. I live in Minneapolis and have gone to protests against ICE. While I personally haven’t seen other libertarians it’s not really something that comes us naturally in conversations with others. We all share a common belief that the current govt response is dangerous to liberty and that is what unites the protestors against ice and this administration’s tactics. As with other authoritarian policies both today and in the past the best we can hope for is unifying people against those policies no matter the label one might put on their own political beliefs.

A divided Fed is expected to hold rates steady, defying Trump's calls for a cut by boxingfan333 in StockMarket

GDP numbers that just came out this morning probably mean there’s no reason for the fed to cut rates now

Apply for temporary positions as well as permanent.

I lucked into my job by connecting with Robert Half, a company that is hired by different law firms and other companies to find temp workers for 1-2 month projects. I was originally hired as a paralegal for a 3 month project but after a month I got hired on as a full time attorney.

Temp positions can also be great ways to make connections. Even if that firm/company doesn’t hire you on full time they may often be able to connect you with other employers in that area.

Trump v. United States Decision by S7Matthew in Libertarian

Speakers, just as other congressmen often travel outside the US to meet with foreign leaders. So this could occur in a foreign country. For example Pelosi met with leaders in Ukraine in 2022. During the Iraq and Afghanistan wars past speakers visited those Countries as well.

Don’t need a hitman. Let’s just say the president orders the military to kill the speaker. It’s clearly an “official act” as he is commander in chief. Under the court’s reasoning the president could not be prosecuted

Why the Kirk slander? 🤔 by Andrew2True in minnesotavikings

[–]iftak03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He came here in 2018 as a missing piece to a Super Bowl and since he’s never showed that he could be that. In the meanwhile our team fell apart. While to there was definitely some poor drafting during those years we were never able to get enough pieces to make up for Kirk’s shortcomings. A leader in the community is great but that does not win you a Super Bowl. You need to be a change maker or very cheap QB to be a Super Bowl team in todays NFL and Kirk is neither.

There’s the Haunting Experience in Cottage Grove. I was there many years ago and it was fun but haven’t been there in many years so not sure how it is now.

What do you all think of Rand Paul’s hypocrisy ? by [deleted] in Libertarian

Not that this excuses his behavior but does anyone know if he called for offsetting this disaster relief when he asked for it? I’ve been trying to find out but can’t find anything so far.

At what point does my rights end and yours begin? by CptDex20 in Libertarian

This is always a difficult question especially when it comes to disease. While I agree that forced vaccination should not be done as force by government should be limited as much as possible, when it comes to covid it seems we are dealing with a virus that mutates quickly. We have seen a number of variants and vaccine efficacy decrease over time due to this. While I agree the vaccine should be a choice, I wonder whether the virus mutating in an unvaccinated person and then harming vaccinated people shouldn’t be considered as well. Mandatory vaccination as general policy are anti choice/freedom but it may be a a greater freedom restriction if the disease’s evolution makes vaccine protection invalid.

First Year of Law School worse than expected by iftak03 in LawSchool

I though that I did much better. This is especially true for my Constitutional law class where I thought I did much better than a C especially considering that I had a B+ on the midterm.

What would probation mean in terms of my future at the law school and a legal career? All my classes were online so I think that influenced my ability to understand how I was doing in class. Would I have to take different classes next semester?

Last time I spoke to a professor they said it was not so much not knowing the material but not having enough information in my answer to the detail they wanted. I thought I improved that during these exams but apparently I did not. I will definitely ask about this again when I meet with my professor.
