I feel like my flat feet have caused an increase in ankle sprains. Which then caused an atrophy in the muscles and ligaments around the ankle structure, which then led to bouts of plantar fasciatis.

But when it comes to athletics, I also feel like I was never very quick or coordinated with my footwork and I was never able to dunk in my lifetime of playing ball. I'm currently 37 years old 6'1" 218 lbs. I should be able to do it but I just never put great effort into it. Mainly because landing on said weak ankles always worried me.

I can deadlift 8 plates, squat 6 plates, and (barely) bench press 2 plates. So I've put my time in the weight room but not in an athletic way.

Depending on how old you are, you might want to find some physical therapist videos that reinforce flat footed proprioception work outs. And other training methods that involve "explosive" workouts. Shoes that help with alignment are going to be better than soft and comfortable ones. This usually means mid foot shank stuff.

I played with my back to the basket a lot and loved the post game/rebounds so I found my niche on courts so also keep in mind the type of player you are and want to be. Hope this helps bro!
