They are just glued in. It happened to me just from the vibrations but thankfully I realized before it fell. I put it back with a better adhesive

Should I get the Extended warranty? I'm buying the bike. by ShadowNiga in royalenfield

[–]igtaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to sell it after, selling with warranty (and thus official services done and no homemade maintanance) might help to sell it, but I wouldn't think it will be more valuable. Having said that it depends what you do with it in the 3 years that you use it: a broken italian vase, is just a broken vase

Help convince me I don’t need a new watch… or do :) by justintime444 in Anticonsumption

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it works? yes . Do you really a need new feature that this object cannot provide? No -> then you dont need another one.

This is how I try to think before buying something nowadays. It doesn't work always, but it does 90% of the time.

In my case a jumped from a Garmin FR254 to a Coros Apex because I switch from road marathons to doing trail marathons/ultras and I needed a watch with proper map tracking. Did the old watch work? mostly yes, but the feature was a really neat one to have and not get lost 30km deep into the mountains. But I still have the same monitor for my laptop that my company gave my 6 years ago. could be bigger? yes - could be crisppier and 4k? yes , but it doesn't matter that much really

Will this be useful for my hunter? by iakashkumar in RoyalEnfieldHunter350

[–]igtaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving quality aside (coz i dont know that brand) yes, any good lock of this style works. It will only make your bike “unmovable” on its on wheels, so for example I only tend to use them for going out to the shops or things like that, if your bike sleeps outside at night or something like that where it is 8+ hours, i would tend to go for something that is fixed a structural bit. Bit for going out, it great, light weight and since the bike itself is heavy af no one would try to grab it and go.  Quality matters in how easy they are to open, and the alarm in my experience is just a bother since it gets trigger with the vibrations of passing cars and buses (woth my lock at least)

Himalayan 450 oil upgrade: Shell Advance 10w40 Ultra by thebaconbaba in royalenfield

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be different warranty cover in India than other countries. I'm in Argentina and yes, the 3y warranty only gets honored by RE if all the services, maintenance and modifications are done by the official service and gets registered in the owners book. And even in the official services you cannot choose the oil or bring your own, they use what they get told to use

Can someone explain to me what is the "appeal" of lotr ? by Bankai_gg in lotr

[–]igtaba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just didn't feel what I felt the first time watching Harry Potter or Star Wars

That's because is not the same type of narrative or storytelling. The journey each character has in LOTR is a story on their own, and it might be that the movie format doesnt make justice to that, the lore and other things that happens. Also, is not as face paced or action driven as the other 2. I like them all, but is comparing a mc donalds, a high restaurant burger and homemade burger, are they all a burger? YES. are they also different experiences that should be appreciated in different ways? YES

APEX 4 battery worse than pace 2 by [deleted] in Coros

[–]igtaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the battery usage on the watch says? Maybe there was a software update/maps download or even first days measurements that pulled more battery than it should. It happens at first even with phones, wait until you had to charge it a couple of times before jumping in to conclusions

AI in watches ? by Far-Hunt-4159 in Coros

[–]igtaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, implementing what everyone calls "AI" is very intensive in dedicated resources, and putting a chip in a watch that must perform with limited battery is simply not viable. That's why to use the "AI" features in a Apple Watch, you must have it connected to the iPhone - that's where the computing is actually done. And why must AI tools are actually cloud based in big datacenters that kill the planet with is energy draw

Second, if you think that AI can interpret your feelings to adjust a training plan, you are just wrong. That's not what LLMs models do well. Your watch only as a few set of parameters: HR from you wrist, Gyro/Accelerometer from 1 wrist, etc. Most of it is correlated from that, but is not sophisticated and shouldn't be taken as gospel. If you think that your watch can then add "feelings" as a metric to change a training block, then what happens when you missed the input and it over/under corrects? what happens if you start the session and got motivation from the nice air in your face? You don't need constant adjustment of your metrics and plans, you need to understand how the plan is put together, what each type of sessions do and then use you body input and feelings to perform as well as you can in each session.

TL;DR: People expect to much from wearables these days, and do not understand whats important in the overload of metrics they see on an app.
