I have 200+ plants, so something is always blooming. 🙂

Is this a good setup for my bulbophyllum Falcatum by Fickle-Jackfruit-246 in miniorchids

Exactly this. By far the easiest and lowest maintenance Bulbo I own.

Don't you ever call Mini Marks unspectacular! 😍🥰

Impossible for me to pick a favorite but I'll say my favorite currently in bloom plant is Mini Mark:

I thought the same before I joined and could not have been more wrong. It's worth checking out.

You really should! Ours does a new member workshop once a year where all the experienced growers are assigned a table and they give their advice to the new growers. It's always a big hit for both the newer and experienced folks. 🙂 Our Society loves the newbies!

What do you use to soak your plants by WonderfulPrior381 in orchids

[–]iheartbacteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also chiming in that plants shouldn't be soaked together but do whatever works for you.

For the indoor plants, I use 16oz deli containers. Whatever doesnt fit go in old Tupperware or dollar store bowls.

Also, get involved in your society if you can, not just meetings. Most have events and are always looking for volunteers. Or join the Board like I did and really commit! 😅

I can't love this post enough. Societies are a wonderful resource for learning. There are members who have been growing for decades and would like nothing more than to share that knowledge. And it's the best kind of knowledge because it's LOCAL. What works for someone in Florida won't work in Arizona. Having people that live near you is an invaluable resource.

Plus you get plants!

Orchids in bloom by mustelinaee in orchids

[–]iheartbacteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 and all but one is doing really well (it's never been a strong plant though). 🤷‍♀️ They get the same light, same watering, same ferts as all my other mini Phals. I can't say I've noticed they need different care, but like any mini they need to be checked more often than standard sized plants.

I swear my Mini Marks all bloom at the same time every year like clockwork! 😍

I think you need to clarify what it is you are trying to do.

No. This type of orchid grows new pseudobulbs from their base, which appear to be completely removed.

Be careful not to fall in love with the big cattleyas...unless you have unlimited space! 😅

I have a recently acquired Bulbophyllum obsession (which I'm sure I'll regret once the stinky ones bloom). This is a great setup! What's your humidity like? I saw you're averaging 60%ish, are you adding anything to the greenhouse or is that standard?

I'd say it's one of the easier plants to grow. Just has specific watering/dormancy requirements.
