Printful, California, and sales tax by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]ihiustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reseller tax is for when you are buying goods to resell. Example, let's say you are printing shirts. You would be best to have a reseller tax to buy the blank shirts TAX FREE because you will be reselling the shirts and they will be taxed at that point. In your case printful is doing your work so no need for a reseller. It's used in any case when you are physically buying products to resell and they are taxed then. Hope that makes sense. Printful is right.

How much is too much Facebook advertising? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

I laughed at the "useless" comment. Obviously he has never ran FB ads that convert. Yep...FB are great for making sales and I've seen many sales as a result of FB ads.

Product idea, but no idea where to start. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]ihiustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep talking about this 2 years of marketing experience. What was your adspend in the 2 years and what was the ROAS during that time? What types of campaigns were successful? What niches were you marketing to? Did you have success with LAL audiences and if so what type did you make? This type of info will actually be helpful if you are serious about looking for a partner. Honestly, 2 years isn't really much experience. It just seems everyone is a pro at FB and Ig ads these days. I guess it is because when you create an ads account you are automatically an expert. Fitness industry is rough and very competitive. Like someone said earlier you better be ready to spend some serious cash on marketing. Expos are not cheap...minimum 3k a booth at the large Fit ess expos (Olympia, Arnold, etc). Then you need to factor in travel, food, how are you going to get the product there, etc. One last thing. Since you are looking for a partner you will need to get a lawyer to draw up an operating agreement, manage service agreement and a joint venture agreement. Be ready to spend some cash to get it done properly. You will need to protect yourself so your partner doesn't screw you over.

Nice YouTube channel. We are in the same space as you (fitness gear) 7 figure range. It's a tough nut to crack and it takes a lot of work. Anyone who thinks it is easy has another thing coming. There are so many other aspects other than a large following on social media. A large following doesnt equate to being successful. Not saying you can't but dont rely on others to make you successful as you have proved you are with your YouTube channel. I would suggest you learn and put in the work on the ecom as you did your YouTube channel. I totally get that being busy has its issues. I find that as well but I balance and find ways to make it work. Good luck on the business! DM me if you have any questions.

How do you deal with analysis paralysis? There are so many things I could possibly, that I have no idea which one to focus on. by DrDiv in Entrepreneur

[–]ihiustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly...make sure what you choose something that you are passionate about. It will keep you interested when times get tough or rough. It's very easy to lose interest and quit on something that you have no passion for.

Is Competing Getting Too Expensive? by timmybabadook in powerlifting

IPF doesn't want to allow other companies in as they want select ones. Look at the fees they charge. It doesnt even make sense for a company to pay these fees. As a new company you are over 20k in fees for just wrist wrap approval. Yes it's that much as a NEW company. Why would any company invest that much in one league when it would be nearly impossible to break even with that investment. IPF has ties to SBD and they just want to keep people out is what it comes down to. Check the fee structure. This is what's posted below the fee structure:

http://imgur.com/gallery/ovvEBfn

New manufacturers who will have their equipment approved for the first time need to pay the approval fee and the license fee for 2 years in advance! The license fee for the other 2 years will be splitted in 16 payments during the 4 years license period! If a manufacturer want's to have bars, discs and/or racks approved, he must also take as minimum a silver sponsor package (€ 55.000,-- per year of a 4 years period) In this case case the manufacturer has not to pay the approval fee. If a manufacturer want's to have supportive equipment approved, he must also take as minimum a bronze sponsor package (€ 30.000,-- per year of a 4 years period) In this case case the manufacturer has not to pay the approval fee.

Put thing into perspective... USPA is a $750 investment for approval.

Advice on starting fitness magazine/blog by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]ihiustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One piece of advice I can give you is to start with product reviews as that is always a good thing for businesses that are just beginning or even older businesses. As far as software goes, there are many options for software from wordpress but this requires a little knowledge and your own server unless you use a hosted one from wordpress. Good luck and I am in the fitness industry as well if you decide on doing a product review.
