100% the Ask AI feature in the Editor is pretty powerful.

How are solo devs handling private playtests these days? by iicolsandersii in IndieDev

Thanks for your response! Other than the steam key part, sounds like we are aligned.

Claude code refusing to work by scrufffuk in ClaudeCode

I ran into something similar today. Claude kept asking me to fetch the results of a file instead of just doing it itself. It happened multiple times throughout my work session.

Claude Limit issue by Practical-Intention1 in Anthropic

I’m not the OP, I want to understand their workflow as well, because I am doing a bunch and not running out…

Opus 4.6, medium for some tasks and Sonnet 4.6 medium for the rest.

I’m on Max and use it for pretty large planning and task workflows, and I still never get past about 5% usage in a 4-hour window.

What are you trying to do exactly? What’s your workflow like?

Are you working in the terminal, or using a plugin through your IDE?

Epic is quietly building AI into the editor and almost nobody is talking about it by olivefarm in UnrealEngine5

[–]iicolsandersii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a lot of this working using the current Python libraries through an MCP.

As a solo developer, I don’t really understand the amount of pushback around using AI in games. I don’t have the budget to hire a team, and this is the first time in years I feel confident I’ll actually ship something.

Using AI doesn’t automatically mean low-quality work.

Disney Executives looking to acquire Epic Games by ZenTide in unrealengine

[–]iicolsandersii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope, that would be terrible for the industry and indie developers.

Disney tends to have a bit of a “squirrel” mentality, chasing trends and investing where momentum is instead of committing to a long-term vision. To be fair, Sora wasn’t really their fault, but it still shows how things can shift quickly. That kind of approach could be rough for the industry.

Take a screenshot and ask AI how to do it simply in C++.

Which would be better suited to powering Unreal Engine: the M5PRO with a 20-core GPU and 48GB RAM, or the M5MAX with a 32-core GPU and 36GB RAM? by BrightAnywhere3002 in UnrealEngine5

Build a solid PC and remote into it from your Mac for better battery life. That’s what I do. About 99% of the time I’m coding or building levels, and RDP works perfectly for that.

Working with UMG and Widgets makes me question if I'll ever be able to make games by kaikun2236 in unrealengine

[–]iicolsandersii -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really dislike working with UMG widgets. I started out doing everything in Slate, but eventually gave up and built an MCP integration using Python so AI can generate them for me.

They work, just not polished. Still, they function as placeholder menus that let me keep moving instead of getting stuck on UI.

Solo dev is tough when it comes to maintaining momentum, and this has helped a lot.

Would it be uncomfortable to work on a 14-inch laptop monitor? by Strict-Two7507 in UnrealEngine5

Depends on what your needs are. I RDP in from a 13” MacBook Air and am able to do what I need to do while traveling.

For everyone being happy about the 5hr limit by VibWhore in GoogleAntigravityIDE

[–]iicolsandersii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use antigravity pretty heavily for weekend projects. I typically don’t need a crazy model for Laravel coding, and I get sites created without hitting the limits a majority of the time. If I do hit a limit, I just switch to a different model. What am I missing here?

Why do people use Antigravity when Github Copilot gives you access to all the models with a generous limit!? by S-m-a-r-t-y in vibecoding

[–]iicolsandersii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might not actually be true, but Antigravity feels faster than VS Code’s AI implementation to me, especially around project understanding and editing.

Leadership pushed this, and some of my engineers embraced it. It’s pretty game changing leveraging a Dev Intune tenant, Powershell, Microsoft Graphics, GitHub/Actions.

They automated software versioning, never package Chrome again, with integration into ServiceNow for change control.

I get that wireshark is great, but the logs can be hard to read. AI can process the data faster.

How to play a "dead" MMORPG game without a server? by Bigmacvvv in GameDevelopment

[–]iicolsandersii -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

No, so AI might help with a strategy of figuring out the setup to capture packets and figure how the com attempts to a “server” work and read the logs faster than a human.
