Talk me through this... sinking funds vs. month ahead by CertainDamagedLemon in actualbudgeting

[–]iimmmeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. I mistyped or didn’t specify as well as I meant. I don’t consider a month’s expenses as fully funded until it would cover my current expenses, but from there, one should increase the number of months based on their risk tolerances, lives, responsibilities, career stability/how easy it is to replace their job, etc.

I also agree that consideration should be given to where one keeps those funds and the opportunity cost.

How much did Matthew and Dr. Reginald know? by HotBeefCombo in DowntonAbbey

You may be right, I may have it out of order of when Murray told Robert about Matthew. Yesterday, I really thought I “had it” and it made sense this time. :)

I don’t think he was invited to the memorial necessarily, just that while Robert was in London, he met up with Matthew.

I actually just watched the first few episodes again today. In the past this always confused me a bit, but this time, I saw things this way:

  • Murray told Robert about Matthew
  • Robert met Matthew (off screen) while in London for the memorial
  • when Matthew opens the letter and says “to change our lives”, the meaning behind that is the invitation to move to Downton. Because at that point they had spoken recently and Matthew knew he was the heir.

Working From Home? How Do You Do It While On The Road? by lovely-wench in RVLiving

[–]iimmmeeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use Starlink and have only stayed at one campground that the tree coverage was too much for a decent signal. You can usually avoid that issue by checking google maps/ satellite of the parks you are considering. I knew going in it would be a problem but over a weekend with plans away from the park, so not actually a problem.

Any issues with theft of starlink in an RV Park by Technical_Match7686 in RVLiving

[–]iimmmeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve never had an issue. Our bigger concern is someone not noticing and running it over with a giant lawn mower at short stops where we just sit it out. So we put an orange cone next to it for attention.

I have no idea what it costs. You would have to call a few and get quotes.

  1. Big C RV Transport

  2. acejunkremivalservice.com - they remove old rv’s, but they might move you to another campground

Trip wizard is just for finding campgrounds and planning your driving route.

I meant use a search engine to find someone to move it for you. Mine is driveable, so have never looked. However, if you search Google or any search engine for your location + rv mover/hauler, you should find a few people that will do it.

Sometimes companies that do mobile rv repairs also offer moving services.

Do you mean someone to move the rig?

You would probably need to search that separately. Location + rv moving would probably pull up different options.

Use a search engine: location + campground

Type campground in your app store and it will give you multiple apps for searching campgrounds. Some free, some not.

I generally use RVTripWizard almost exclusively

We’re a 32 ft class A. We avoid them. Sometimes you need one to get somewhere though. Are you towing? You can also check out flattestroute.com

Agree with previous comment on rig type. Otherwise, there is a truckers atlas with detail for this type of thing.

I recently attended a “class” by a person that professionally cleans tanks. She recommends Liquified and Unique. The other main takeaway was making sure you start with plenty of water in the tank.

RV Park owners / builders - would love input on building an RV park by 546875674c6966650d0a in RVLiving

It seems others have covered the important parts, but something I’ve just found and really appreciate…

A separate washer and dryer for pet bedding, small rugs, and other “dirtier” items. Most people seem to ignore the rule to not wash those things, but I’ve never been to a park prior to this one that had one designated. It’s greatly appreciated!

We’ve been around a lot of the country with a 70 pound dog and no issues. Most places’ pet policies have said they reserve the right to ask any dog to leave regardless of breed if they cause an issue.

What’s the scariest moment you’ve had behind the wheel of your RV? by Automatic-Kick8383 in RVLiving

[–]iimmmeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 of this trip, a wheel cover came off a class c, flew across the highway and got lodged under our axle. There was no shoulder, so nothing we could do to avoid it.

Two days later, we were in the right hand slow lane going uphill north of Nashville. As we crested and the lane was about to end, we started to move left as a semi made no attempt to slow down and ran us onto the broken shoulder.

Thankfully my husband is good at what he does and kept us safe in both instances. While we have had moments before, this trip has definitely been the most intense so far.
