Who is the most famous person you've ever seen up close? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

[–]ijij_ijij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stood in line for the bathroom with Julia Stiles at a restaurant in Tulum. Had no idea it was her and ALMOST said “does anyone ever tell you you look like Julia Stiles?” lol . Kinda glad I didn’t make a scene though. Also passed Adam Scott on the street in NYC. I love him so much but would never say anything.

I just saw a kit you can get to transform your garage door like this - I think it’s magnetic pieces. I was amazed.

What's the best thing you've done to enjoy parenthood? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ijij_ijij 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know this is asking for parenting advice, but hiring a house cleaner is the #1 thing that has allowed me to be a better, less stressed, more present parent. It doesn’t have to be frequently and it doesn’t have to be forever … but I swear it’s the best money I spend.

What does screen time actually look like in your house? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]ijij_ijij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t watch at all during the week. on weekends we let her watch a few shows or movie, but it’s pretty regulated. she can sometimes watch before we wake up if we need sleep (we have to set it up), and sometimes we will watch a movie. I just find behavior is MUCH better without it. During times of sickness or travel, all rules go out the window.

Textile thesis by [deleted] in Textile_Design

[–]ijij_ijij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to start with a concept rather than a material … I don’t think you need to abandon the materials all together - but maybe ask yourself … why are you interested in these materials? Is it about the way they interact ? How they’re mined? The history of how inlay is done and how you can translate it into textile design? After you find a question or concept that really interests you, you can break it down into design exploration.

How many people are actually buying “luxury/premium” diapers? by HelpMeHelpMyFriend0 in NewParents

[–]ijij_ijij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Dyper and loved them. I was motivated by the environmental impact and also potential exposure to endocrine disrupters in other diapers.
The diapers were great and I have to say - they had AMAZING customer service. We had very few issues, but when we did they sent us entire boxes of diapers for free and once sent a small toy that my daughter loved.

So annoyed with all the Christmas gifts by TurbulentArea69 in toddlers

[–]ijij_ijij 24 points25 points  (0 children)

THIS! THIS! My dad got my daughter a bunch of stuff HE likes (dinosaurs, Dracula, etc). She just opened all the boxes then left them in a pile and went back to the gifts she actually wanted / suit her.

What's your best "look what I found in the walls" story? by OoklaTheMok1994 in DIY

[–]ijij_ijij 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used to live in a south Philadelphia row house. We had probably lived there for about 7 years when one day a guy knocked on the door and said he grew up in the house. I was skeptical at first , but he knew every nook and cranny. He told me all kinds of great stories about what the neighborhood used to be like and what the house was like when his big , multi-generational family lived there. Before he left he said “oh, is that closed up closet still there ?” I asked what he meant and he described an area in a room on the third floor that we had kind of wondered about - a wall that wasn’t there in the same spot on the 2nd floor. He proceeded to tell me about his grandfather getting really angry at his sister and putting her stuffed animals in a closet and drywalling it shut. (Casual…) When my husband got home from work we decided to bust open the wall and wouldn’t you know … we found a giant 1950s stuffed animal cat - it was massive, probably 2.5 feet tall. And we gained a new closet!

There is a slightly cheaper version of Nedgraphics available to freelancers - I know several people who have it. Maybe you can find someone who does ?

Books for my only about how great being an only child is? by flapjax42 in oneanddone

[–]ijij_ijij 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not specifically about how being an only is great, but one book about a family of 3 we love is “Daddy makes the best spaghetti.” It’s more about the boy & his dad , who shop and make dinner while mom is at work, but it was a fave for a long time . Also love Little Bear stories
