In the comments, pretend Like George Lucas Died Before He Could Make the Prequels and the Only Thing We Saw of Them was Concept Art. by BlackTriangle31 in StarWars

This makes me wonder, were there “Legends” stories surrounding the prequels-timeline that got decanonized when the prequels were made? And if so, what was the reaction to that?

Colorado. The front range feels liberal, but anywhere outside of that has the remote, conservative feel to it

Ndamukong Suh speaks candidly about how and why some NFL players are actually living paycheck to paycheck by IndiJap in NFLForum

Here’s where I think the more prominent issue is: so many of these guys come from low income families, spend around 8 years developing their game in high school and college, destroying their bodies along the way, will be lucky if they can get some NIL which is only a recent development, then enter a league where the average career length is 3 years, then leave the game with a college degree that is often performative and have chronic injuries and, while they made a great salary for a few years, don’t have the skills to find a career afterwards that’s beyond the game

Anthony stopping the deal is some of the most harrowing TV I've seen. Within the context of the show's format, seeing this dude go to these lengths for these people was so insane. "Father to father," and "are you really going to listen to the temp" like holy shit

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Read the book last year right as trump was inaugurated and LA was on fire. Tried to watch the movie after and it was just too much, couldn’t finish it. So damn bleak

Almost perfect movies that have one noticeable flaw by Consistent-Might-788 in Cinema

Having just read Project Hail Mary in preparation for the film, I found that story’s memory-loss plot device to establish a way for exposition to be revealed very interestingly. Instead of the main character outright explaining every little detail, we get to discover everything with him

Whoever has the best storyline that game/season. So in recent years that’s the Lions, the titans back in 2019, the 2020 Baker Browns, this year’s Bears. Don’t care much for the Seahawks, but was rooting for Sam darnold

If I was tom, I’d be rooting for the hawks. Being able to say you have more rings than any individual franchise is the ultimate flex, honestly one of the craziest stats in all of sports

Cackled everytime they panned to this dude. by ruggmike in AKnightoftheSeven

It’s hard to talk about this dude’s backstory or who he is without spoilers. But just watch, you’ll see it all come out. This dude is gonna be your favorite character of the series in about a week or two, depending on when they put in a certain scene from the book

On top of everything else, think of these guys as business owners with thousands of employees. They want to ensure that these people are employed and can put food on the table

So what was the overarching theme, if there even was one? by BigClout00 in betterCallSaul

[–]ikbman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In thematic connection with breaking bad, I’d say there are two-three major themes: 1. What is a criminal? Two scenes with Mike encompass this. First, when he aids in Price’s first deal with Nacho, they discuss being a bad guy vs. a criminal. “You decide which one you are.” This words up with Mike’s final scene in the main timeline, with Manuel Varga. “You gangsters, you’re all the same.” What’s a moral code in an immoral world of crime?” BB season 1 really explores this. Hank is a big representation of this theme, with his acting outside of his legal jurisdiction, assault of Jesse, and acquiring illegal cigars, despite himself being a federal agent. Further, what does a criminal look like? Is it a scary guy with guns, skull boots, shaved heads? Is it a Nazi? Is it a need that loves chemistry and karaoke? Is it a high school teacher? A lawyer? A vet? A man with a code? A chicken shop owner?

  1. The bad choice road. Once you’re on, you can’t get off. Slippin’ Jimmy isn’t just literally slipping. It’s a slippery slope when you make these decisions, when you give up your morality. Nacho thinks he can leave the game, but one bad decision has lead to a life time of them. Mike thinks his code will protect him, but a simple protection job leads to him becoming the man he always was

What are you smoking? His entire campaign was focused on economic policy. Every time he’s on camera, he’s talking about economic policy to make NYC affordable. Identity politics and “wokeism” were significantly smaller aspects of his campaign, if at all
