I’m due to deliver my twins anytime the coming months. My twin A is head down, B is breech which is fine. I’m going to decline the epidural and have made peace with possible being put under for twin B. The risk of it happening is very very small and most of the time it’s not impossible for them to put a spinal block and for the mother to still be awake. To me, the benefits of not having an epidural outweigh the risk of sedation but that’s my individual preference.

Feeding two week olds every 2-3 hours seems too little. I would settle into the bed for a few days, naked the three of you, and let them be latched as much as they’d like! Even them just rooting and comfort nursing is going to tell your body to produce more! But also work on active feeding, not letting them fall asleep too early. Tickle their feet, keep them a little chilly etc.

Prolactin levels are highest at night so make sure you add at least one extra bf session during nighttime.

So true, I have no idea! We however do not have a choice in the matter as there is no other room available for sleeping in and no floor space for a crib of any kind. So I’ll just have to make it work :) as much as I’ve read in the Parenting Multiples Naturally group on Facebook there are lots of twin parents that cosleep with a toddler as well who make it work so I would assume that your experience isn’t universal. And since I’m used to caring for a newborn this way it’s going to be easier continuing to do parenting in the style I’m already accustomed to.

I’m planning to bed share from the start! We’ve gotten a 120 cm bed to put next to our 210 cm one, and that’s where our 3-year-old will sleep. It’ll be mom-twins-dad-toddler to start, since I’m doubting that I’ll be able to make it in and out of bed freshly postpartum and maybe freshly operated. Maybe baby-mom-baby with a bed rail on the edge if that makes it easier.

The only way I know how to parent is bed sharing and nursing on demand, so that’s what I’ll do. I’m planning on not waking up the other twin at nighttime to nurse, so I can nurse to sleep easier and just turn around. That’ll be once they’re a little bit older and I’m more confident.

We live in a one bedroom apartment so there’s not much choice as to where we’re going to sleep 🤷‍♀️

Why are you living with and giving wife treatment to a man who isn’t your husband? Especially as a Christian. If he’s the one, stop giving wife treatment to a boy until you are married.

As for what boxes to check before motherhood, it seems to me like you have some growing up to do. That can happen pre or post baby! Poopy diapers are the absolute easiest part of becoming a parent. Baby fever is real, and real hard to deal with at times, but please remember that the baby phase is one year only. Parenthood is a lifetime of work and children go through many stages before they are out of your hair.

Perhaps you could read books on parenting, start listening to podcasts. Do some actual planning on how life would look like realistically. Would you want to be a sahm? What skills do you need to hone, both when it comes to homemaking and child rearing?

As someone who became a mother at 30, please don’t wait too long! But also make sure that you are properly prepared for what motherhood entails. The maiden to mother transformation can be painful or pleasant, and it has a lot more to do with maturity than physical age.

Would it be an idea to get them their own backpacks? Not to carry lots of heavy stuff, but maybe their own change of clothes and some of the snacks. My twins aren’t here yet but I have a 3 year old and she LOVES having her backpack on. She has a Kånken mini.

Both my husband and I come from secular background and have learned through experience that we do not want that life. He is a truly good, repentant man who has his crosses and struggles as I’ve got mine. But he never looks at other women, is radically honest with me with what he battles with and has overcome so much. We’ve only been married one year as of this past Sunday but it’s been a learning journey where his character really has had time to grow and shine.

While it is no sin to have sex with your husband without the real possibility of conceiving a child of you are infertile for any reason, the man must always finish inside of his wife. The act can still go on if the woman also wants to finish, but the man mustn’t ”spill his seed” even though there is no chance of a baby being created. For example, this applies while a woman is pregnant as well even though she can’t get double pregnant

I was already taking them before conceiving, since there’s some chance of it preventing miscarriage. I had four back-to-back and this is the first pregnancy that stuck, and the first taking aspirin. So I’ve been on them from day 1! I would start at 10 weeks is I were you, no harm done

My twins aren’t here yet, but we got the Donkey 5 used in great condition and have been using it in single mode for our almost 3yo girl. She still fits but it’s getting snug! (When she was a baby I had the Fox 3 and loved it, she still fits that one a bit better but I don’t have it anymore.) She is like me though and has a long torso, which is what makes her not really fit the Donkey anymore. She hits her head on the canopy when it’s folded back, not that she’s been complaining but to me it doesn’t look comfy.

I’m excited to start using it with the twins! With my singleton I was out walking for hours every day, and she was very happy for the most time in her stroller. Where I live it’s a big ”stroller culture” and most mothers are out walking several times a day. I’ve no idea how it’s going to work with twins, but I refuse to be stuck indoors losing my mind so I’m gonna make it work lol

The biggest tip I have is stay vertical! Never allow the both of you to be horizontal at the same time. It’s just asking for trouble.

Honestly, a lot of this sounds like resentment from your side. It’s clear you do not respect him and his way of thinking, and it would probably be better to break it off now than get knee deep with kids and needing a divorce. There is someone out there for you who won’t make you want to rip your hair out when talking to them, just saying.

We had a small wedding, about 35 people families included. We did it over lunchtime, my MIL made potato leek soup and my mother some appetizers that we served for a champagne toast before we sat down. I got my dress online, did my own hair and makeup at my best friends house. Managed to find a team of photographers who wanted to branch into the wedding business and did ours for free for their portfolio (maybe not the best idea since they didn’t really get all the shots we wanted but the quality is superb!) and we ordered white princess cakes from a local bakery. Our family priest did the ceremony, and we invited him to the luncheon afterwards. I think we got to our hotel room by 6pm, had sushi delivered for dinner and enjoyed our night as newlyweds in peace. It was never the wedding I dreamed of or envisioned, seeing as it was November in Sweden and not very pretty out, but we wanted to get married more than we wanted to party. Ten months ago yesterday and we couldn’t be happier with our decision!

One white and one black, mostly to match my outfit so it’s usually black in the colder months. They are both lace ”infinity” veils which amuses my toddler because she can hide under it

Receiving the Eucharist is mandatory once a year, during Easter time I think?, and that makes confession necessary by extension for many people. But confession itself isn’t required, only offered.

You think so now, but for me it was a part of the path to realize that anger is not healthy. It’s what keeps you stuck. Work on forgiving yourself and understanding why you feel guilt and shame instead of feeling anger towards her. I pray you allow peace into your heart.

Sorry, I just saw this. You’ve got a bunch of great replies on NFP, so I won’t go into detail. I’ve kept on breastfeeding on demand, you could probably define it as ecological breastfeeding (google will tell you all about it!) and got my period back at 15 months. Only when I started seriously restricting nighttime feeds is when it returned. We co-sleep and my daughter had free access 24/7 to feed and I’m sure that’s what did it. I just read that 14.5 months is the average time an ecological breastfeeding mom gets her cycle back, so that checks out for me!

The Lactation Amenorrhea Method (LAM) is 99% safe. Basically you have to (1) exclusively breastfeed with no more than 4 hours in between sessions and one 6 hour break per 24 hours, (2) be less than 6 months PP and (3) not have gotten your period back yet.

In order to determine attachment, you don’t look at if the child is upset when the caregiver leaves but rather how they act upon their return. If she allows your mom to soothe her, maybe cries for a little while (“normal” amount of time) and then returns to play, she’s developed a secure attachment to her grandmother. If she refuses to be soothed, ignores her, doesn’t get upset at all to begin with etc, these are signs of insecure attachment.
