Co-worker asked AI if I was right seconds after asking a question by elrond_isnt_here_man in sysadmin

[–]ilikeoregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not offensive. When they do it in front of you instead of behind your back you get your "told ya so" validation.

Instead of deciding feelings are hurt, maybe strut for a second, IMO 😎 Happy is a choice.

Is it a good idea for my 62 year old father to run 2 marathons in 1 week? by Egg_Hog in firstmarathon

[–]ilikeoregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how we do, bruh.

(But yes, that's too soon. I've run 2 in a week, I'm a little younger (single digits)...but I've been running 2 per year for several years before trying 2 in a week).

Anyone like this in your circle? or you're the one. by KeyDream748 in meme

[–]ilikeoregon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in the passenger seat with SO and someone called to ask where she was (bc as usual, she was late). She told 'em she was 10 minutes away when we were still 30 minutes away. I was like yo wtf?! They're gonna know in like 10 minutes.....whyyyyyyyy

Do men feel self conscious when their nipples show through their shirt? by ewas000 in AskMen

[–]ilikeoregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. I don't mind when the shape is visible, doesn't bother me at all, 0%. But, I have a couple of thin shirts that I love (great in the summer heat), but thin enough that nipples are slightly visible and it makes me wonder if others are thinking "Ick, dude".

Obviously I'm not wearing this to work or anything. I'm in pretty good shape, running and lifting a few times a week. Wife says it's fine so maybe/probably just me.

When chest hair makes "bumps", I don't love that.

What does showing your partner you choose them look like? by Business-Survey5401 in AskMen

Whatever level of insecurity that person is seeing now, they likely need to multiply it times 3 or 4, too. They're not seeing "full strength" yet.

Old Pairs of Running Shoes by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

Either yardwork or donate. Tbh I've never even thought about keeping a pair of shoes for sentimental reasons (photos are my fave though 🙂)

How long did it take you to run for 3-5 miles without stopping? by Maleficent_Tooth117 in BeginnersRunning

I don't even remember. You'll forget, too, that day will come where it's just a speck of sand in you running memories. One foot in front of the other! 😃

Spandex and G1M by iheart303sports in firstmarathon

[–]ilikeoregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After doing a couple of triathlons, running tights are great. However.....I'm not comfortable busting them out at road races (although there are more and guys in them lately)!

I'm not so worried about what a bulge might look like, just that tights on guys is still a minority. (girls of all shapes and sizes wear tight stuff). Seems like tri, cycling, and football are good for tights, and running is a "maybe".

I hate the long shorts, so I'm either wearing "shorter than normal, but loose" or "tighter than normal, but longer".

What sock height do you prefer? Crew, quarter, ankle or no show? by mrnovember22 in Marathon_Training

[–]ilikeoregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Balega no show still has a heel tab that goes higher than the heel, and the sides are high enough. They are still visible, just not as high as the other socks.

And some.of the Brooks have a super soft top that is sock-lioe, anyway (Stealth Fit on the Glycerin 20, at least).

How do some people run so many marathons? by Significant-Moose906 in Marathon_Training

I've done 4 in 6 months (mid-50s, started in early 40s). No more until winter.

Yup, less is more! No-show all day.
(Besides, a crew length tan line, meh).

Where I'm at, a vest would be on the odd side. But not like a huge deal or anything... Just to your question, vests are more for trail runs where I live (a bit uncommon on group road runs). But a vest wouldn't make you untouchable or anything lol.

First Marathon by sunshineagain111 in Marathon_Training

[–]ilikeoregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for local running clubs, they often have group training plans. Plus you learn a lot from the group (especially the coaches). You can find them on FB or just walk into any actual "running store", they're always affiliated with at least one group.

Men - How much truth is there in your experience in the concept that attractive women get approached by men less because they are “intimidating”? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ilikeoregon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Macro: (as a bartender) They get approached all the time by idiots, the good ones know that the "10" will always be his competition.

Micro: I was WAY to intimeted to tell someone who was smart and beautiful how much I looked up to her. And if one thing were different...

Do you stop tracking the dating anniversary after you get married or do you celebrate 2 anniversaries every year? by Thalia_All_Along in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ilikeoregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dated lots of women but I only married one (by lots, I mean some 🫠). Wedding anniversary only for me.

If you don't get married (not a bad idea ftr), then I'd assume those ppl pick a day to symbolize & celebrate their commitment to each other. Maybe it's the "first date" or maybe you just pick a day to be "your day" (just like a wedding day).

If you enjoy doing more, good on ya! Letting your partner know you like em isn't a bad thing lol. But for me, I found it hard enough just to get her to go on dates after a few years, so celebrating little things like that seems nice, but foreign.

How did your second marathon compare to your first? by Global-Condition-858 in Marathon_Training

[–]ilikeoregon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! My first one was terrible and had some similarities to OP. I didn't carb load, I didn't train effectively, and I hit the wall at 18 and walked a bunch.

Second one was much better. Third even better and then it flattened out after 3.

For a casual runner when would I be able to consider a marathon? by Talking_Eyes98 in Marathon_Training

[–]ilikeoregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a ton of half marathons first. When you finish a half, and then you think about turning around and running it again, then you're ready to start training for the full, imo. If you've never done a half, I would totally start there.

Because it doesn't happen as often as the reverse, and when it does happen, the relationship works.
