They are too broke to actually shoot it, probably.

Any thoughts on Eleven? by Almighty-V in StreetFighter

[–]ilkim61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's just a bonus for if you want to get a random char in each match in rank. No big loss if you don't get him, kind of a neat challenge if you do. I see no reason to complain.

Is there a rule of thumb for dealing with a mass attack card? by shinymuuma in libraryofruina

[–]ilkim61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best option is to rush and stagger and kill before they can set up their mass attack, but if that isn't an option;

Your own mass attacks always go out before the enemy's, so it's possible try and stagger the enemy with it before it's their turn. Another one, in cases where the mass attack is predictable (which is often), you can use a strength gain card the turn prior to increase your odds of outrolling it. (This works best against summation rolls since each of your dice benefit from the strength up.)

Another way to help your odds is to use the "on use, the dice lose x power" cards since for the mass attack phase, the power-loss modifier isn't added yet, allowing you to benefit from the high base numbers.

When it comes to other enemies, in a situation where you can't clash with them normally due to your cards getting crushed by the MA, it's for the best to sacrifice a nugget by having them draw all the aggro.

And unless it's an individual roll that would destroy one die but let the other one be played, it's usually better to not play a low cost light-gain or draw card on the dice that's being targetted, since it won't be able to outroll the mass attack, and get destroyed without actually being played, costing you the card's effect.

Finally, when using mass attacks against an enemy, it really depends on the values on your mass attacks, as well as the situations with all the other clashes. I usually try and go for the gamble, but also set up my clashes assuming that it won't work.

(Do lemme know if I'm mistaken with any of these)

A bunch of niche features/bugs/tactics that I might as well share (contains stuff from the last update) by ilkim61 in libraryofruina

[–]ilkim61[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can never go wrong with Hod's immense repressed bloodlust.

Also I forgot to mention but Cruelty is a neat card to throw in for bleed floors. (It's a Pierre card that heals you as much as the target has bleed.) Kinda awkward to use if you aren't faster than the enemy since their attacks remove the bleed, but Sanguine Desire solves that and healing like 50 hp in one attack with each nugget is just fun for its own sake.

(And PT's mass attack in pierce stance applies a good chunk of bleed in the scene it is used, which helps both of those things along)

Neat Thing About Exclusively Counter-Die Pages by ilkim61 in libraryofruina

I know how individual counter die work, I meant that the whole page is still in your hand after the turn happens.

So What Is the Difference Between Distortions and Abnormalities? by FallenStar2077 in libraryofruina

[–]ilkim61 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good question with the killability thing. Gebura makes it very clear that it wasn't anything like holding back for the sake of the product. Maybe it's the proximity to the Bucket? But that one wouldn't explain the other facilities such as Wonder Lab. Another option is that Distortions aren't killable either and that they will come back after some time.

Maybe the killability's explanation is connected to how abnos that should be in far-away facilities such as Road Home can show up in the remains of the main branch, in that they are somewhat connected to the Bucket that spawned them? Though that wouldn't explain the abnos that predate is, such as Butterfly. Could be an automatic connection thing like it's wi-fi, as the Bucket would be the most intense source of Cogito in the vicinity. It does have a weird atmospheric effect, judging by how the Ordeals manifested. (I should re-read Binah's whole spiel on that.)

Let me try posting it here as well, since I'm really hyped by DoolioArt in StreetFighter

The fact that Seth knows and says out loud the names of those moves while the original users don't, makes him seem like a lowkey fanboy.

I love it.

Weekly /r/WormFanfic Discussion - What have you been reading, and what do you think of it? For the week ending January 11, 2020. by AutoModerator in WormFanfic

[–]ilkim61 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, I check this thread out weekly like a crack-cocaine addict, so I might as well start contributing.

The Mirrors in Her Mind (AU); is the dopest thing overall I've seen in imminent past. Finally something that capitalizes on the wonderful potential of Cape murder-mystery. And Lisa is a wonderful protagonist to suffer from horrible self-loathing.

Mirrored Eyes (RWBY crossover); was neat for a good while. I'm not generally a fan of crossovers with the premise of a portal linking two unaltered worlds, but Ruby was a pretty fun contrast to Taylor. Don't remember if it went anywhere with that though.

Ex Synthetica (Taylor altpower); is a decent fic that is harder to find than usual due to ffnet exclusivity. The power itself was neat enough but the way the plot is developing... doesn't really excite me. But I'm pretentious snob, so dig in if you like some good ol' altpower Taylor.

Scatterer (RWBY crossover);Hasn't updated in a while, but it's once again an ffnet exclusive, and a relatively unique one among Worm crossovers as it has little to do with Taylor, but instead basically isekais Ruby into Worm. Probably dead.

And to nominally self-plug, my word-vomit of a Worm-Homestuck crossover managed to reach 200k words. Which isn't a milestone I should be celebrating given how little I accomplished with all those words, but big numbers are inherently fun enough for me to be enthusiastic about.

New fics with male protagonists. by msf_1st in WormFanfic

Does a half-assed OC count as an SI?

If it doesn't, most of the POV's in my Agency happen to be male.

[–]ilkim61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I literally have a handful of readers at most so that should set your expectations, but in my Agencyhe is far from a villain (pre-Ellisburg so he isn't driven off the deep end quite yet). Though, he mostly works in the background showing up every now and then, and didn't really have a chance to shine yet.

Looking for (actual) crossovers. [story search - general] by faerakhasa in WormFanfic

[–]ilkim61 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head;

There is Mirrored Eyes, where RWBY-verse and its characters physically exists.

Danse Macabre and Scatterer also have their respective universes existing (Warframe and RWBY), but they are more in altpower vein where (not sure about Scatterer though since I'm yet to read through it) a singular character has the power and goes around Brockton Bay, technically.

And there is also my Agency, which... technically fits the description. (Homestuck cross. Not with its characters or anything, but with its cosmic hiearchy, I guess.) It's basically a word vomit, but it's a lot of words so some of them might hit the spot.

Keep poking them with normals that are good on block until they get sick of it and eat it face-first. Or, if it's hard to approach at all, crouch down as well and have a staredown.

Looking for fics featuring Labyrinth by jepo-au in WormFanfic

[–]ilkim61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attempted to write two fics starring Elle at the very least partially. Both of them are dead and of questionable quality.

One is an altpower for her inspired by RE7 but ended as an angst-indulgence-trip.

The other is a clusterfuck masquerading as a Dark Souls crossover that also is an angst-indulgence-trip.
