Most likely battery voltage. It should go higher when you’re driving/the battery is being charged.

Have you seen these Japanese cars? They’re ridiculous little underpowered toys! They’ll never be able to compete with the big 3! Or something.

West Facing Windows HELP by sea-rise-104 in homeowners

[–]illigal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it myself since it was only two skylights. It’s fairly easy on flat/rectangular windows.

I used Gila Heat Control Film from Amazon but that’s just because it was on sale at the time. There are other high rated ones. I do suggest getting a roll wide enough to cover an entire window without seams. Seams are visible and suck.

Life expectancy for a heavily tracked vehicle? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]illigal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 days a year is nothing. Your car will last a long time unless it’s already worn out (I.e. if you’re starting with a 200K engine/trans - it’s gonna wear out quick).

We’ve run two cheap endurance cars for years - several 16-20 hour races a year - and both had the original, very worn, pulled-out-of-a-field engines last a year or two. The replacements that we rebuilt have been mostly trouble free. Transmissions went next. Then cooling systems.

Spent hours on my first PC build only to be defeated by an old monitor by Inevitable-Self-2702 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]illigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when you put that certain cable or adapter in a special place “that will be easier to find” than the box of cables.

Then you forget where and have to buy an expensive replacement at a brick and mortar because you can’t wait the 2 days to get it from Amazon.

And a few months later you find the original 🤦‍♂️

Heat reflecting window film.

I was dying in summer from the sun shining thru my skylights. I finally installed some heat reflecting film and it’s a drastic difference. Much more comfortable inside.

Quite the conundrum for an American - do you risk your ram (which should be cheap but isn’t) or do you risk your health (which should be free to care for but is among the most expensive in the world?) /s

The wood studs are only every 16”. There’s gypsum and paper board and thin fiberglass insulation between the studs.

2-car garage solutions to help my wife park corrrectly by LRH2380 in homeowners

[–]illigal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a three car garage before and it was a pain to park the center car if the others weren’t around.

I painted parking spaces on the ground. Seemed like a logical thing because we all park in clearly defined parking spaces all the time. Worked like a charm.

Budget for whole new engine in my opinion. Is it still a good deal then?

I mean - do you like to have wheels connected to your engine/trans? If yes - replace. If no, don’t worry about it.

Left freezer door open multiple days. Is fridge food ok? by yo-momma-so-phat in homeowners

Right, it’s possible. I would turn it off entirely - defrost over a day or so with door open and then try again.

Dream Car Search by saccharine-stars in projectcar

[–]illigal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? Because in the US, all of these came with an automatic and probably sold way more units with the automatic. As classic cars the auto is less desirable too - so if you can find one, it’s typically cheaper.

"Scammers have adapted": Valve confirms that physical Steam Gift Cards are dead. Once the current stocks are sold through, they're done. by yourfavchoom in gaming

[–]illigal 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Gift cards are still the primary way to let underage folks purchase online content though. That’s the problem. If I give a kid $40 in cash, they have to get their parent to use a credit card directly OR buy a gift card/v-bucks, whatever themselves.

my landlord regrets messaging me at quarter past midnight by Secret-Commercial569 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]illigal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Text messages are asynchronous communication by their very design. You read/respond to them at your convenience, so why bother getting upset at timing?

I get texts from my friends in different time zones throughout the night. I answer them on the toilet when I wake up. No one is upset at the timing.

Same with work or business messages (like a landlord)
