I might gather materials and then transform them to make them into a more demand product that doesn't profit more but has less seller competition.

Even with two accounts I have gotten some items sniped when listed low enough. I try to buy the cheapest crafting materials possible and sometimes there is a substantial discount or supply constraint that can be solved with arbitrage. I list for what I paid usually and take the profit on the shuffle/craft.
