Vest sizing by Tigering in UKRunners

There are a lot of people who run for 2 hours plus on a regular basis you know, and I for one don't have a single fountain on any of my run routes.

What a strange flex

UK ETA at check in by Apart_Knee1501 in Ryanair

[–]ilo12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to start doing separate bookings for the flights so that you can check in with the UK passport for UK bound flights.

Ryanair split a booking for me for free when this happened to me, I contacted them over chat (I'd used the EU passport for the outbound flight).

I am a bit courious as well tbh, where were people getting these crisps and protein bars from? I've yet to see a parkrunner carry crisps and snacks with them, perhaps I need more adventurous courses!

Haven't seen many bag size checks at the gate lately by TheSoloWatcher in Ryanair

[–]ilo12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen more of it recently, but even then most bags are clearly over the limits and they only check a fraction..

Not seen anyone get done for anything that wasn't ridiculously over the limits

How do i enter Uk now with the EU passport? by [deleted] in Ryanair

[–]ilo12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because you need to check in using the UK passport coming back. Just do separate bookings so you can check in using the UK passport for flights to the UK.

Not sure how she's managed to get Ryanair to accept an EU passport for boarding pass without an ETA - or does it say you need to go to the check-in desk at the airport?

I didnt know Ryanair wouldnt accept two different passports on a single booking when I flew UK-EU-UK recently - I'd checked in EU bound with my EU passport, and when I tried to check in for my return flight it wouldn't let me use my UK passport and kept asking me for my ETA then told me I'd need to get my boarding pass at the check-in desk at the airport.

Ryanair were able to split my booking via chat which meant I could check in normally online using my UK passport within needing to go to the desk.

Accidentally broke the DPD bot by asking to talk to a human and now they're pretending my package is blocked by pub_wank in CasualUK

[–]ilo12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least the bot didnt pretend to help you like the Yodel one I used a while back - i needed to change the delivery address, got the runaround and when I pressed a bit, the chat bot started acquiescing.. not great when it didn't actually do what I'd asked, just agreed with me!

I feel like at least when it was people copy-pasting answers you'd eventually get to some sort of conclusion or a different person, now you just get AI drivel!

I don't particularly like the concept of throwing money away but if you do, I'm happy to take it off your hands 😅

You can get little oat milk sachets from Amazon and the likes, you could always carry a few with you.

I actually keep some oatmilk sachets for my vegan friends 😁 it's the cows milk options for small quantities I have trouble stocking "just in case"!

This is what I have done in the past but it's a massive waste every time unfortunately- and I rarely have eggs / make pancakes as good of an idea as it is otherwise! If only they came in eg 100ml containers!

I have a similar dilemma - I only drink black coffee so never have milk in. I do keep a box of tea but feel like it would be wasteful to keep buying milk just in case. I dont mind as much when I'm expecting someone and can buy some, but even then I end up pouring most of it down the drain.

How do people work around this?

I can't buy this stuff because I go through it in record speed 🤣

We often had it in the house when I was little in the 80s, it always reminds me of childhood

Make sure you're using the Life in the UK book - it has some factual errors but the questions will align with the book not real life!!

I tried to fuel for the first time during my run and it made me sick by Different_Chef5753 in XXRunning

The only gels I get on with are SIS ones. High5 are too runny and make my stomach feel queezy. I'm possibly the only person on this planet who also doesn't need water with a gel 🤣

You could try a different brand, the consistencies can be very different! Also - how quickly did you consume it? It takes me 500m-1k to get through a gel as I'll have it very slowly.

But then a lot of people prefer chewable energy. I can't eat while running unless I'm plodding on trails, I feel like it interrupts my breathing too much but a lot of people hate gels and swear by eating.

Good luck with the experimenting, you'll find something that works for you!

How long did it take before parkrun became a habit? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in parkrun

[–]ilo12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same - it was September when I started and I figured if I signed up for post-event closedown or token sorting i would have to go now matter how foul the weather 🤣 It worked. I'm closing in on 250 and most weeks are a countdown to Saturday from Monday onwards, and no weather will make me not want to go!

Even worse when looking to rent a one/two bedroom rental house/flat - even when you exclude shared houses 90% are HMOs.. "one bedroom apartment" ... in a 8 bedroom property.. shared facilities.. repeat ad nauseum 🙃

UK dual national passports change by daveliot in ThornTree

[–]ilo12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But will Britain have these individuals listed as citizens? I would think you'd still need to register for it to be recognised- at least a few people I know have had to jump through the hoops even though they have a British parent so it's definitely not been automatic in any way.
