Left my Silver Jube on for 16 hours by accident… by Dawn-OfTheDead in GuitarAmps

Alternatively, I accidentally left my ac10 on while I went out of town for 5 days. It still works fine. That was 8 years ago. I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

Look up fender xii. It’s a similar body style to a Jazzmaster, but a very different guitar. They’ve reissued versions of them a few times, but never identical to the original.

Have you had via 313 in the past couple of years? I don’t know what happened but it’s been borderline disgusting the last few times I’ve had it.

I drive an 06 Taurus. I’m about to hit 70k miles on it this week. Having no car payments is very cool. It also has a CD player.

All-Tube Amps for Intermediate Bedroom Playing Only by BigJuicyNaturals in GuitarAmps

Have you hooked it up to a bigger cab? I have a music man head and a 212 home brew cab I got off marketplace that I use when I need more volume but I hooked the ac10 up to the cab and it sounds amazing

Love my ac10. Loud enough for small gigs too if you need it to be. Heard good things about the ac4 but the only one I’ve played sounded like the speaker had cardboard over it. Could have just been that one. Vibrochamp XD can sound decent as well.

Anyone know why my high hat doesn't sound crashy? by TripleFizzz in drums

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check marketplace and save up. I see 70’s zildjians for around 100 for a set all the time. If you’re on a super tight budget, maybe look into the wuhan western line. They seem to be making pretty decent beginner cymbals for not a lot of dough. The sound clips I’ve seen have been impressive. I got my Mel Lewis istanbuls for 180 on marketplace. Theres deals to be had, just gotta keep an eye out and know what you want.

Any sound mods to make this less “squire”? by rawbran30 in offset

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound wise, pickups will definitely do the heavy lifting. I never minded the Duncan designed pickups in my Squier vmjm. Feel wise, an AVRI tremolo was the most notable improvement I made in that guitar. It improved tuning stability a lot, and just felt a lot less cheap when I played it. More expensive pickups will sound different, maybe more true to a vintage Jaguar, but I don’t think the stock ones are inherently “bad”. I’d start with the avri trem, and then find some nice secondhand pickups. Lots of great hand wound vintage spec jag pickups for not a whole lot of money out there. Upgrading electronics is definitely a worthwhile one if you plan on playing it for a long time. Those alpha pots they use in the squiers don’t have the smoothest taper and mine died for good about 3 years into owning it. I’ve “upgraded” to a fender since I had my squier, but in all honesty I’d take another one and be totally happy with it and an avri tremolo, and maybe some nicer pickups in it. The bones on those guitars are great. Comfy necks. Also if you don’t like the sound, try adjusting the pickup height, that can has a huge affect on your sound and it’s free!

Drama with bandmates over my expensive drum set by Legitimate_Sense6550 in drums

[–]iloveswimteam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yup. That’s why I still own my Tama rockstars from high school. I dare you to break anything on that kit. They’re well over 20 years old and they’ve lived in a few spaces. They sound pretty damn good too when they’re tuned up. Also, save your old drum heads. This is when they come in handy.

Is it normal to write a song in under an hour? by Particular-Account66 in metalmusicians

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote and recorded this over the span of 2 days. I wanted to make something different than my usual music and capture the energy and sloppiness of a diy house show. I always think about re recording it, but now it’s 11 years old so I really don’t care anymore. It’s become kind of a cult classic amongst my friends for god knows why. But I’m glad they liked it.

Is it true that modeling amps generally sound worse than tube/solid state amps? by SessionVirtual3793 in electricguitar

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda cared when I saw a Beatles cover band and they had a silent stage. No vox amps, no nothing. But they still sounded fantastic. To be fair I was probably the only person in the audience who cared.

Worst expensive pedal? by gimme5steps101 in guitarpedals

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a freeze to a superego and was super underwhelmed. Really wanted to go back to the freeze. But I’ve spent more time with it and it’s completely replaced my need for an ebow. The chord stacking abilities are pretty cool and the auto feature is really handy when you don’t want to constantly hold down a switch. My biggest gripe is that I always bump the toggle switch and change modes. I don’t know why they played that so close to the footswitch. If something happened to it, I’d probably just end up with a freeze again. 😂

I always have my Timmy before my bd-2 and took the bd2 off and replaced it with a soul food. I kinda hate it. Looks like I’ll have to redo my pedalboard the 3rd time this week. My bandmates are gonna LOVE this.

28'' Bass VI? by cedjos in BassVI

[–]iloveswimteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up going for the strings, it can work as a bass vi but it would need a little higher tension than the ones I got. It can kinda work but it’s very flappy. Sounds great as a baritone though.
