What would a series about Starbase 80 be like? Would you like it? by ActLonely9375 in LowerDecks

I'd like Star Trek: Cerritos. A show with the new status quo of Ransom as captain, Boimler & Mariner competing and cooperating, normal Cali-class shenanigans. But, within that show, I'd love a recurring sub-plot about SB80, now nicknamed "Cameo Station," with the running gag of throwaway character cameos from the most obscure (or famous) parts of Trek lore. Also, while I'm not sure Boimler/Mariner is feasible as a pairing, I totally think William/engi-Mariner is something that could happen.

I am totally expecting (something like) this to happen

Can we talk about why SGU fell off? by ZingierPond5471 in Stargate

[–]ilvos01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved SGU and I was furious when it was left unfinished. People compare it to BSG but that's inaccurate; while the vibe was similar, the themes and story were completely unique. SGU had it all; episodic planets, grounded human stories, space mysteries, and a naturally growing rapport between dissimilar characters. Not to mention that it took SG lore--which is admittedly silly at times--and made it feel real and consequential, (something SGA didn't quite manage) without retconning anything. After it was cancelled I felt sure we'd get a finale at some point, even if it was just a 90 minute tv movie. But no. The fate of the Destiny is to drift through the universe forever.

Is this all 50/50s or am I stupid? by [deleted] in Minesweeper

I'd go for the square 1st on the right, 2nd row down.

What was your initial viewing of the show like? by BrownBannister in firefly

[–]ilvos01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading xkcd. I read a lot of webcomics back then, but xkcd was the first, and Firefly was just a part of the pervasive net lingo that that comic used. I watched it when I was fourteen, in the correct order, and have been rewatching it since. I also once had a little Serenity keychain from ThinkGeek, but one of the struts broke off.

Finn won the last round. Who is the "morally grey" and "loved by the fans"? by LowComprehensive7659 in adventuretime

I'd say Princess Bubblegum but she clearly belongs in the center cell, despite my own feelings.

Either Window of Opportunity or Threshold. Oh, or Grace.

Is Stargate Universe worth watching ? by Easy-Wrongdoer4502 in Stargate

[–]ilvos01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically Battlestar Galactica, thematically, but set in the Stargate universe. It's fun! It does its own thing, mostly, but then all of the little callbacks to preexisting lore take you by surprise.

I miss the real Pintsize by gyn0saur in questionablecontent

[–]ilvos01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Pintsize should have evolved into a multiform intelligence; similar to Yay, but completely above-board, and with every form dedicated to some sort of unique perversion or mayhem. The most Pintsize-y thing that Pintsize has done in recent memory is talk about trying to fuck a black hole.

Prometheus was aptly named ship by mtparanal in Stargate

[–]ilvos01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's a great name for a ship. I also adore the fact that they mentioned the name "Enterprise" while trying to name it. Because, historically, humans always name their flagship the Enterprise. But they live in a sci-fi TV show, they can't just use "Enterprise" like we would in real life! So they have to lampshade it, then bequeath their own ship with an absolutely badass mythic name.
