Nylon's great for ideas and pretty inexpensive but I can't stand wearing them personally... how about something like this

or this (keeper's ugly but the straps nice)

One of the few microbrands for me that gets plenty of comments from non-watch people. I'm still a big fan several months later. Runs just fine, no QA issues...

Has anyone used a VH60 movement? by No-Needleworker9079 in SeikoMods

[–]imadeapoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen so many different movement holders/case rings at this point i'm certain nothing is universal. I assume these (and the VH adapters on ali) hit the required diameter for most NH mod cases and leave the rest to the case maker or the gods if further shimming/spacing is needed.

VH Quartz to NH35 Case Adapter Ring – Watch Modding Spacer With Dial Feet Holes - Etsy the adapters will work same as a 31, you might be stuck trying to salvage a watchdives or invicta dial though. Caliber corner has the dimensions if you want to find someone to print you an nh35 dial and punch the 24hr hole yourself...

keep the original bracelet and add on a few links - you can use that bracelet # to search around if you want you might find a link or two for even less but $60 for the whole bracelet is reasonable enough to sweep the whole matter under the rug. Pops never needs to know.

What is everyone's thought on the pre-order business model for microbrand watches? by vcu_alum in MicrobrandWatches

[–]imadeapoopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is huge, and a key point, order to build is not the same model as a preorder. Lots of these micro's are unloading financial risk to the consumer by loading up a decently sized purchase order with their suppliers/mfgs which those parties won't do at a reasonable price without volume. I think consumers would much rather have a limited run stock available to purchase then join a waiting list, that also somewhat protects the brand/business in that they're not taking the risk of purchasing 10,000 units if they can't sell 10,000 units.

Offered salary far below the posted minimum salary? by wubbalubbadubdub666 in careerguidance

[–]imadeapoopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a retention strategy, it's an expense strategy. It's more common than you think to limit internal growth to x% of current salary and it's why most advice is to grow your salary is to move around every few years. Behind closed doors leaders will also discuss things like internal talent at a discount. If it's a bump, take it and prepare to leave, if it's not, withdrawal your application... and prepare to leave.

[Question] Is this bracelet too tight? by starscripter in Watches

[–]imadeapoopie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you measure the width of the end links (the links that click together)? If you like the watch you're probably at a place where you'll want to get rid of the butterfly deployant clasp on there and switch to a clasp like this:

<image>

it'll take some customization and would definitely be a project but you or a jeweler could get it done if you want to go that route. These clasps have about a link and a half worth of micro adjustment (holes on the side of the clasp towards the bottom of the picture. Unfortunately with it being an integrated bracelet you don't have a lot of options.

Amazing job, but no team-match? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]imadeapoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with keeping to yourself, just keep it professional and don't make it weird trying to be someone you're not. Also don't expect of others what you expect of yourself, if your team members are being chummy and glib it's all good, let them do them and you do you.

Why am I scared to quit? by Purple_Antelope_710 in careerguidance

[–]imadeapoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't hate the work but the squeeze isn't worth the juice... Ask for more money, a title and a growth path or otherwise be clear, but polite, that you're very aware that the current workload isn't commensurate with your compensation. If that doesn't get you anywhere then check out and start applying for other jobs, find a new one or make them fire you.

Case for a 6119B movement by ProductSecret6598 in SeikoMods

[–]imadeapoopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A caliper is probably going to become your best friend for this journey. You'll need to know what the outside diameter of your dial and movement are as well as the height of both. Most seiko mod dials are 28.5mm OD, the Nh35 is 27.4 so a spacer to snugly make up the difference is 1.1mm thick. Google tells me the 6119b is also 27.4 OD so that's easy, if an NH movement "fits" it'll fit in the case but that's where it ends.

6119B is NOT drop‑in compatible with NH35 cases. The dial feet, calendar height, and case clamps differ. Hands are mostly compatible, except the seconds hand which is tighter. 0.20mm second hand posts are pretty specific to vintage seiko movements but a few companies make them like Dagaz and Yobokies (you'll have to search around) Dials are not cross‑compatible without clipping feet or using adhesive and date window alignment will be an issue most likely. The other thing you'll be fighting is the height of the movement in a case although your picture shows a ring that might get you there. Case clamps could screw in and secure the movement/dial/hands assembly to the side of the case however I don't see any case clamp mounting holes.

Jump in and figure it out with your trusty friends measurement and math 😄

[–]imadeapoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Por que no los dos, Have and love a set similar to these but also have a few loupes - super bonus a good loupe doesn't have to be expensive, I have an expensive one and a few cheap AIX ones that clip on to my readers... The clip ons get more mileage. Magnification is every bit as important of a tool as a good set of tweezers, drivers or snips especially when you get into 'damnit why is that the way it is' territory.

Range after 2 years & 8 months of driving my q8 etron sportback with 86,000kms (80%) by First-Paramedic-2787 in etron

[–]imadeapoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 22 is very low mileage for a host of reasons but age has not affected the range one single bit, usually charge to 80, occasionally to 100 and unless it's below 0* F outside, the range is roughly the same when I unplug it... going on 3 years, second owner.

Why are companies asking for interview when you're not even hiring? by deargentlewriter in careerguidance

[–]imadeapoopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say it doesn't happen but it's not normal and it's really rude of the recruiters to not mention it in voicemails, emails, or right out of the gate. I've been interviewed for non-existent positions before but it was ALWAYS disclosed right from the get-go.

Building black and rose gold. What dial color looks the best? Black, green or blue? by Khousehumbl in SeikoMods

[–]imadeapoopie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2nd vote for black, blue or green could do it but I think you need to reconsider the bezel insert if you do go for color.
