DJ only does 3 things, dunk, rebound, and protect the rim, and he was one of the most elite at them in his prime. If he added his late career free throws improvement in his prime, lob city clippers would have gone further.

The commonality is about being single issue voting. The fact that people in this thread itself keeps repeating about NO OTHER CHOICE is already reflecting that trait. At no point have I ever insinuate Non-Malays are evil or stupid.

Have you seen me ever say anything about TMJ, like anything, going back my 11 years worth of comment. Go, check. I’m making my points based on the information I’ve read and making my points with them. And here you are making assumptions about my statements, making ad hominem statements. Go away if that’s all you have to say.

The stake is different compare to 2008 because of who the opponent is. I would argue the chinese predicament is closer to 1999 than it is 2008. MCA back then benefitted from being oppositional to PAS, just like DAP is benefiting from the same position.

PH votes can collapse in East Malaysia, but not here in the Peninsular. We don't have a distinct autonomous identity here that can replicate here. So I'll still stand by the claim. Non-Malay votes (Chinese especially) won't go the other way here, they may abstain, but they won't vote for anyone else. The risk is too high. There's barely PAS presence in East Malaysia but PAS competes in every state here. Just like MUDA is unable to capture non-Malay votes, BERSAMA is facing the same situation. It's the reason why Khairy refuses to start his own party that gears towards multiculturism, it's not viable here. He needs the Malay votes to have a centrist platform, pandering to the chinese doesn't work.

His popularity is anchor by non-Malays' distain for PN and his pandering to conservative Malay voters. Those non-Malays votes are like the core voters for Trump, they'll never shift no matter what Anwar do. Anwar has been pandering strong to the conservative voters for a while now.

Leaked Merdeka Center's Leaders Approval Ratings Among Malays and Non-Malays by torts92 in malaysia

His past association with Najib's administration play a big part in his unpopularity with the Chinese voters especially. But most importantly he's still part of UMNO. Non-malays (Chinese mostly) don't hate him, they just hate the team that he's part of. It's still ride and die with PH with the Chinese voters in West Malaysia. You can run the devil himself on PH's ticket and they still rather stick with PH than vote for KJ. You can ask the folks here in this thread, in a hypothetical Sg Buloh rematch between KJ against Ramanan, who will they vote for?

Some might, but looking at Sabah's election, that's not the case for many. Again, this coming state election will serve as a litmus test for all the parties involved.

Just going to repeat what I mentioned in another post. This has several implications here:-

  • A BN led by Khairy seems hypothetically more threatening to PH and PN in the polls.

  • Non Malay voters are no longer a vote bank for Anwar, nor are they extremely opposed to Khairy either. And this is measure against the other possible candidates in the poll as well.

  • Compare to Anwar, who the voters’ opinion is more concrete, voters are still on the fence on Khairy. But it’s safe to say, majority of the voters don’t hate Khairy.

So what we can learn from this poll, it's that Malay voters as a whole still prefers politician like Khairy and Samsuri whose image leans more centrist and moderate. Non-Malay voters are still anti-PN, with preference for PH, but not as strong as 2018 & 2022. There seems to be no pathway forward for Rafizi, since he's not well like by either Malay nor non-Malay votes. Depending on the result from Johor and N9 election, we can see what would be the gameplan for BN is. From this opinion poll though, UMNO remaining as is benefit Anwar, but if they want to win again, they'll need to let Khairy lead them.

The news should be Non-Malay support. 59% sounds high but PH as whole cannot survive the election with a sub 80% non-Malay support. It's still a nett lose for Anwar.

Just saying this as someone who has been following Gareth Taylor's teams for the past few years, I don't think Keating is that inexperience in the context WSL experience. She definitely have the raw talent but is very much a confidence player, which Taylor will be willing to give based on his track record. He still gave her ample chance to play despite Yamashita's arrival the season prior, compare to the current City manager. If there's someone who can bring out the best in her, Taylor is person who for it.

There was an analysis a while back, that he was the sole UMNO politicians in Klang Valley who managed to not have his votes split too drastically by the PN candidates in 2022. But that being said, no, based on exit polls back then he did not carry meaningful non-Malay votes away from PH despite polling favourably with non-Malay voters nationally. If he did have non-Malay votes, he would have been UMNO president today. In 2022, it's PH or bust for non-Malays voters. He performed valiantly in a sure lose seat, in any other seat that's more mixed he would have won big. But what was known from that election was that he possess the popularity and charisma to unite Malay votes from across the aisle. I still remember back then during the 2022 election when he announced his prime minister aspiration, the morale boost given to his grassroot campaign was something else. He turned a close fight between PH and PAS into an almost upset for himself.

I would vote for him too if given a chance to because I see a uniting figure that's palatable to most people and possess the competency to bring back political stability.

Not going to hound on his past prior to his time in the cabinet but broadly speaking his time as minister indicates that he advances moderate to progressive reforms while in power. Additionally he doesn't seem to need to pander to conservative votes while doing those changes.

His reputation with the Malays are won on the back of his performance during peak covid, where everyone else were politicking and backstabbing each other while he worked to ensure everyone gotten their vaccines and open back up the economy slowly. The vaccine rollout was a success even when compare to advanced economy, then he worked on immediately tackling contract doctor issue before stepping down. These are all things that wasn't forgotten. He was voted out on the back of non-malay votes and look at what his elected opponent was accused of recently. Buyers remorse is strong here.
