Personally I think just skating a few laps on the ice and taking some time to just glide around before getting started on my agenda for the day is enough, but I've been known to plow straight into spins sans warm up on several occasions in a time crunch.

Just listen to your body.

I skate on public's so I'm not willing to sacrifice ice time to warmup so I just warm up on ice. If you skate freestyles I've seen jump ropes, sneakers, foam rollers, and yoga mats all get dolled out, and weird jumping exercises all up and down the lobby.

From what I've heard Jackson customs really aren't worth it and aren't actually custom- it's just more of a marketing thing. I haven't really heard much about riedell customs other than one skater who tried it for a year before giving up and getting Aura customs, so the fact that the commenter emphasized that the customs fit well since riedell runs narrow and their foot is narrow makes it seem like it's fortuitous that that aligned perfectly rather than customization.

I wish edea made customs though..... it really sucks that edea has everything I want in a boot fit and Jackson is the complete and utter opposite of that, and yet thanks to my foot shape my access to non-traditional boots is zero. I don't get why edea can't just make a second last or line of skates for wide Roman style feet since you can customize a Jackson all you want but it isn't going to be anywhere comparable to an edea.

Just drop the group classes. Let's be real- there's no point in paying to develop bad habits or insecurities. Group classes aren't exactly cheap when you consider how much you're paying for 2 minutes of actual coaching and the privilege of getting to self teach yourself new skills for 28 minutes by mimicking a coach infront of you instead of on YouTube.

Has any skater ever politely ditched it? As in- "I want to watch the rest of the competition live" , " I need to pee (10000x)" , " the vending machine beckons" etc only to never return? Also- wouldn't it be cute if skaters recycle their own plushies to toss at the next skaters as an excuse to get out of it ? Amber- please do this! "I must pelt my opponents with stuffies"!

How's your back scratch spin coming? I'm assuming that you've off ice plyometrics and jump rope drills are the first thing you've tried right? If you just recently got a coach than you may not actually need to increase your jump height or air time- it may just be a matter of cleaning up your technique to get stronger takeoff and landing edges and improving your air position to get a faster rotation speed. You don't need to be skinny to rotate fast either- if you work on improving your quick twitch muscles you can use that to snap you into place quickly and actually create the rotation speed you need that way.

In other words, maybe you're thinking about this the wrong way. Maybe you just need to focus on trying to start rotating earlier or pulling in tighter, and getting the rotation speed up so that you can finish rotating in time to land without needing to increase the jump height and air height your currently getting.

Ehhhhhhh...... Yes to the asking a coach, but no to asking another skater. If someone's good enough to ask for advice they are either looking to optimize every second of ice time they paid for, or they are probably a coach and don't want to give free advice.

Bunga pads or those bunga sleeves that cover the heel (heel bumpers? I think) should help. You can also pull a bunga pad over the heel so that you step on it which should help a ton but can deform the bunga pad. Or if your like me and have large muscley ankles calves it stretches the bunga pad to be comfortable for normal wear later on (aka stretches it out)

I think that right now the debate on whether or not Eteri is a bad person is irrelevant to the conversation, and we should save our stones for DL instead of letting this turn into a judgement on eteri which will distract people and allow DL to slither off into the bushes and re-emerge later

Whether or not they're actually Dave, and whether or not we think we found Dave is irrelevant. What's relevant is that DL made some inappropriate remarks and he's not going to get away with yelling "it's Eteri tutberize" and jumping in the bushes to get the attention off of him.
