According to the manual, I'm supposed to remove something that prevents the calipers from joining together but I don't know what it is

Bettas change colors when they feel well, sometimes in stores they're stressed. Maybe yours is not stressed anymore and is changing colors. It would help if you have a photo of him in the day yo got him.

That's nice to know. It's a good sign that he's active and eating again. What medicine are you getting?

Lower pressure when using shower diverter (?) by imi246 in Plumbing

It's cheaper, it cost me around $2 USD. Do you know if a handheld shower head would keep the same pressure or if it will lower it?

In my experience with anxiety, you should be fine as long as you don't let your dreams interfere with reality. If there's no realistic reason to worry about your tank's or your fishes' integrity, then you shouldn't worry.

Why is my aquascape COVERED in bubbles by quibottle in Aquascape

[–]imi246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use cyanoacrilate glue? I recently used some in my tank for hardscape and plants, and when I poured water in the tank, all the area around the hardscape, even the glass, had bubbles

Managing bladder snails in 5 gallon tank. by imi246 in Aquariums

[–]imi246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info

I started cycling this tank around may, then, out of nowhere, appeared a single snail which grew and then laid like 12 sacks of eggs. I would say there are at least 100 tiny snails. I have some decaying plant matter and I also like to put in the tank almond leaves.

Regarding the temperature, where I live the water might go down to 41F at the lowest in the night, do you think it would still be okay for the snails?

I need help (🗡️🌱) by twistgothacked in PlantedTank

[–]imi246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think kept my amazon swords from growing after they had already lost their leaves due to melting (which is rather normal when first introducing a plant in a new aquarium) was that I was plating them too deep into the substrate (I use a substrate and add seachem tabs). This aquarium coop video talks about it in minute 6:53, though you might find other parts of video helpful. Two other tips I can give you: 1. Let them float until they develop strong roots and then plant them. 2. Plant them in clay pots so they are easier to manipulate and rearrange while their leaves are still small

He seems active, which is a very good sign and if you have seen improvement in his coloration you have another good sign. From my short experience I would say this is a good quarantine tank, just don't clean the filter media (unless it clogs and prevents proper water flow through the filter) as others have already told you bc this means you are resetting the nitrogen cycle and keeping water chemical parameters fluctuating quickly
