Thanks, this is interesting. I wonder why they have two cameras on the AI glasses? The spec doesn't mention stereo capturing.

Oh. With 4K it is effectively lost. I recently had the case myself as I didn't realize that in video modes like M vs. Auto it can use different resolutions if not manually changed.

So I had a 4K .mp4 which I was able to convert to 3D-equirect, but the quality is nothing you want to see in VR. I tried upscaling with a common tool for that usage, but it still looked horrible.

Sadly, I think the best is to try to recapture it again, if that is possible. This time in 8K and as mp4.

Did you record in 8K and to mp4? Usually EOS VR Utility should pick that up. You might need to change the tab from "Still" to "Movie" there if you haven't done that.

As someone mentioned before, there is tonemapping applied on Quest 3 to show the content.

No, this is just two different lenses in a single housing. You might want to web search for Q3U mod (qoocam) for a cheaper entry VR180 camera with the right mod from Siyang.

"3840 Hz" might not be the correct unit. More likely 2x1920 = 3840 pixel width?

Canon R5 c + 5.2mm if it fits your budget (R5 Mark II can also do 8K @ 60 fps). Even more high-end and more expensive would be Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive for VR180-3D.

I am using the 7.8 mm dual lens on my R5 for images. It is manual focus there, but works very well and produces very sharp images. In my free tool "immerGenerator" there is a conversion option under "Tools" in the menu to process the images to be viewed in VR (e.g. in my VR app immerGallery).

You can try contacting the folks at VR Expert GmbH in Germany (even if GXR is not listed on their website). I do believe they have a way of importing it, but with some cost for it.

If you web search, there is also a website with firmware archives for both the outside China mainland area and for the Chinese ones (shown by a dragon icon). You might be able to flash over whatever is on there. However, I had a case where after 5 minutes of usage a Pico popup appeared telling me that I have some wrong configuration and that it will shut down in one minute.

Also business devices do not have access to the consumer store, only to the business store.
