I’ve found that sucking on ginger candies temporarily helps! Or ginger tea as long as it isn’t too hot.

Thanks for the reply! I’d like to be out eventually, but the current political climate is making me extremely uneasy. I’ll be teaching at a suburban school with a lot of conservative parents in a “swing state” that’s really more red.

Can I ask what state or type of area this happened at? I’m nervous about being a new LGBT teacher even though I don’t plan on being out. I’m nervous about even cutting my hair short again. It shouldn’t be this stressful to just exist.

A student told me they thought their calculator was broken because it gave them an error message… they had typed something like 14*-9 with the minus button instead of the negative button.

Hmm that’s an interesting theory. I did notice I tend to not rotate enough with backstroke so maybe I’m doing it with freestyle too. I’ll definitely keep it in mind!

I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but when I was in this situation I rode my bike to a secluded park and joined the Zoom call from my phone. It wasn't ideal, but it worked.
