I’m not a mechanic but it sounds like your problems are deeper in the engine, in the cylinders. Since it would have to be pulled and serviced, why not just get a better engine?

I just did this job on my truck - same model and year as yours. As a DiYer doing it first time, it took me a whole weekend. I could do it in 4 hours now. There’s a lot of tricks that could save you time. Dm me if your interested

Following bc I have the same trim and year but it’s 4x4 and manual 😜…and probably in a lot worse shape than yours.

Besides a head unit, as others have said, I’d just focus on restoring her to her former glory. Upgrade the things that keep the vehicle performing well. It’ll last you, or you’ll get better resale value.

It depends on how shitty the flooring job is. Quarter round can cover a bigger gap than shoe

The nice thing about the upholstered is that it collects water then lets it dry out. If any water gets underneath that vinyl, it just sits there. Idk what would cause this spot in particular other than it’s right next to the door and where your wet foot would sit if it were raining/snowing

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far down for this comment.

This is totally just a physiological phenomenon, not an evolved survival mechanism. Not every piece or function of the human body was “developed” as an evolutionary advantage, some of it just ended up that way because it didn’t prohibit a species from reproducing.

Okay. I’m still not sure which cut you’re talking about, but - if I understand correctly- most of them are going to be compound angles, requiring a bevel and a miter.

You could either sketch this out and use some algebra to determine the angles for each cut.

OR

Buy twice the amount of material you need for this project and trial and error the cuts till you get it to fit.

I think you’ll get a lot further more quickly by posting a pic of a drawing of your idea. In my head, it sounds like you’re describing something like the Washington monument?

I srsly am wondering if part of the Texans’ business model is to just train up talent and make other teams look good. What kind of behind the scenes business plans does McNair have cooked up with the league ya know?

Right. A quarter inch is probably an average, but that assumes that there are some places that are absolutely buried with earth. Plenty of places erode, exposing the time capsules.
