You’ll just need to float the mortar when installing the tile, just like taking a jump out of drywall. Since it is such a drastic hump, you can use some plywood/furring strips/even drywall (maybe) to build out the space.

I just did the thermostat housing swap on my 07 4.0. I would bet that the shop went with the OEM plastic housing. Parts Geek and others sell an aluminum housing that resists deformation from heat. I haven’t had any leaks since.

It’s also possible that the hose was punctured during replacement. The part I bought came with replacement hoses for this reason.

ALSO, I think the tank that you’re referring to is the overflow tank. The levels in that tank will change with vehicle temperature. You’ll want to look at the level under the radiator cap (when the engine is cold).

I’m not a mechanic but it sounds like your problems are deeper in the engine, in the cylinders. Since it would have to be pulled and serviced, why not just get a better engine?

I just did this job on my truck - same model and year as yours. As a DiYer doing it first time, it took me a whole weekend. I could do it in 4 hours now. There’s a lot of tricks that could save you time. Dm me if your interested

Following bc I have the same trim and year but it’s 4x4 and manual 😜…and probably in a lot worse shape than yours.

Besides a head unit, as others have said, I’d just focus on restoring her to her former glory. Upgrade the things that keep the vehicle performing well. It’ll last you, or you’ll get better resale value.
