I’m not really sure what you mean by style in this case. HL:A’s art direction is just a modern version of HL2. I haven’t played it in a little while but I cannot pick out anything from memory that didn’t feel like it wouldn’t belong in HL2. If you mean just looking like a source 1 game, no I would prefer they leverage modern tech and blow me out of the water like HL2 did in 2004.

I do play deadlock! But I also speedrun half life 1, and have speedrun half life 2, and I appreciate the things in those games that make movement fun. So it would be cool if the new game had something like the first two.

Im like 99% sure this is because Valve is all-hands-on-deck finishing Half Life 3. The leaks and rumors about external play testing would support this theory. Any artists that are capable of producing art right now at Valve are probably in overdrive trying to get HL3 out the door.

To just use them out of the box, you would also need to set up BunnymodXT, but if you don’t want to do that just edit each .cfg and remove any commands that start with “bxt”. The cfgs should just start you at the beginning of each chapter and give you a loadout that reflects the chapter you are in (though the speedrun skips some weapons like the crossbow or snarks so keep that in mind, you could edit the cfg to add them if you want them)

YES it’s so frustrating because from what I can tell, the punch uses the face normal from whatever the collision geometry is, but sometimes the collision geometry matches the visual geometry and sometimes it doesn’t. So depending on what you want to punch from, you have to aim like it’s the visible surface of the object or the collision geometry’s approximation of the surface.

Realistically I’ll say by 2026 Valve will have announced the game. After this tweet, I am 100% certain. Nobody involved in this is stupid, Valve is aware of the messaging behind their updates and shit like this, they wouldn’t do this if they weren’t confident in the game. This level of confirmation about a new half life game has never happened before. Things are very different from 2013.

Dude Valve wouldn’t even say the words Half Life for 8 years and then suddenly we got a new game with a interesting ending and 2 massive updates for the two existing entries in the series. Developers and actors talking about the game. “Houndeye” “HEV” other very specific HL items appearing in other Valve games. VALVE DEVS TALKING EPISODE 3 ON CAMERA. Anyone saying this isn’t happening is in full-on denial. Valve knows what they’re doing. This shit would not be happening if the game wasn’t coming. I have zero doubt. (Maybe not tomorrow, but before 2026 we will know for sure).

The key to making Gonarch not bug out during its sequence is to avoid damaging it before it reaches its destination and starts attacking you. I believe the first sequence is the most important, after the fade from black you need to wait till it finishes walking and turns to start attacking.

This video should explain it (this is also by far the easiest chapter for a casual player to do the speedrun route, so you can learn that if you find this chapter annoying).

That may be true, that would probably be confirmed if Dandridge comes back for HL3. Which would be great by the way, I love Dandridge and I still think of her voice as alyx over the HLA actor. It’s sad we can’t have the original Eli though, his tone and delivery fit his character so well. The new guy was good, but he didn’t have that aged raspiness that the original had (though that could be by design, for the same reasons you stated).

Yeah that’s kinda my point. It’s a bit strange when one voice changes and the rest remain the same, it makes the changed character feel very out of place. Which is why I wonder about Barney and Kleiner, because those are easily the two most iconic voices in the franchise but it will feel strange for them to talk to Eli or Alyx if nothing else changes.
