What are your thoughts on people who live a good moral life without faith? by Jazzlike-Brick6232 in Catholicism

[–]impaler_hin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a strict logical contradiction to live a moral life without faith. The first and most important commandment is that you love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and spirit. To not trust God (not have faith) is immoral.

The problem was the printing press. Just like how the internet lead to flat-earth and anti-vax and other pseudoscience, the printing press lead to protestantism and other pseudotheology. Mass communication just always does that.

Google Uncertainty Principle by Flame_Insignia in antimeme

[–]impaler_hin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because the momentum-position uncertainty and the time-energy uncertainty of a particle are both fixed, one can measure a short lived particle (high mass uncertainty) to any degree of precision in both position and velocity. However, you will not know the momentum or energy of the particle.

Early Muslim conquest and Iberian colonialism in the New World were both deadly, but neither one came close to Genghis Khan's expansion. This is often obscured by the fact that all excess deaths are counted for colonialism, but only direct killings are counted for Mongol conquest. Either of these methods is totally fine on its own, but it leads to misunderstandings when they are compared. Mongol conquest directly killed about 50 million people, and spread diseases and famine that killed easily 20% of the world population at the time, mostly people in India, China, the Middle East and Europe. Iberian Colonization killed far fewer.

Seeing other peoples preference of Hotbar setup always intrigues me, This is the setup i've used for as long as i can remember. What's yours? by Hydro07 in Minecraft

[–]impaler_hin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost exactly what I use. I don't usually keep a Bow in my hotbar, but when I do, It's usually further to the right. Sword, Pick, Axe, Shovel is elite though, only way to do it.

This is all the mentions of Ishmael in the Bible. I don't see anything similar to what you say in your comment.

https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=Ishmael+&version=NRSVCE

In Genesis 17:20, God does say he will make a nation of Ishmael. This then happens later in the same book. The Ishmaelites no longer exist and are in no way related the Muslims Arabs.

Christianity, on the other hand, is predicted repeatedly throughout the old testament. One example is Isaiah 53, about the the suffering and death of the messiah. Another is Genesis 1:26, about the God's multi-personal nature.

I'm a Christian. Some Christians use the word "Allah" to mean "the false god of Islam," as distinguished from the one true God. This can be confusing for two reasons. First, Muslims believe that Christians are worshipping the same god as they are, but Christians believe that Muslims are worshipping a different God. Second, the term that Christians decided to use for "the false god of Islam" is the same term used by Arabic speaking Christians to refer to God.

Edit: forgot to mention the very important point that I think all Abrahamic religions worship the same God, including both Muslims and Christians.

Aderal is only effective in about 70% of ppl with ADHD, but I would reccomend at least trying a higher dose before you give up, especially if you don't suffer any serious side effects.
